Every life matters, and every journey deserves safety. Today, September 12, 2026, the Philippine Red Cross joins the global community in celebrating World First Aid Day, led by our Safety Services in coordination with Welfare Services.

This year’s theme, “𝘍𝘐𝘙𝘚𝘛 𝘈𝘐𝘋 𝘐𝘕 𝘔𝘐𝘎𝘙𝘈𝘛𝘐𝘖𝘕 𝘊𝘖𝘕𝘛𝘌𝘟𝘛𝘚,” shines a vital light on ensuring accessible and inclusive first aid education for people on the move, displaced individuals, and our welcoming host communities. By promoting first aid as an essential life skill, we strengthen the capacity of individuals and communities everywhere to respond effectively to emergencies and provide immediate, life-saving assistance when it matters most.

Highlighting the spirit of this year's observance, Philippine Red Cross Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon reminds us, "First aid is more than a technical skill; it is an act of profound humanity that transcends borders and protects the most vulnerable among us." Echoing this commitment, Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang emphasizes, "By equipping people on the move and our local communities with life-saving knowledge, we build a resilient network of compassion and readiness where no one is left behind."

In solidarity with this mission, all Philippine Red Cross Chapters are mobilized to conduct impactful activities within their respective areas of responsibility. Because compassion knows no borders, and readiness saves lives.

Every September, we commemorate 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, and it serves as a reminder to look out for each other. So often, the people who spend all their energy making us laugh are the ones silently going through the hardest times. It is easy to mistake their bright energy for happiness, while a very quiet struggle lies underneath. Simply asking, "𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜?" can be the exact comfort they need to feel valued by the people around them. Opening a safe space without judgement gives them the courage to reach out for help.

Last August 1, we celebrated the special day of our very charming External Vice President, 𝘼𝙡𝙚𝙭𝙖 𝙅𝙖𝙯𝙯 𝘿𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙖!

The way you magic your way in turning the atmosphere into something bright and inspiring whenever you're around is deeply comforting, specifically on days that felt like a blur.

Your impact is deeply felt by many as you continue to inspire not just your co-executives but also other students to be proactive advocates for the betterment of our school safety. With that being said, we thank you for always pouring your heart into everything you do, not just for our organization but also for everyone in our school.

We may be late in greeting you on your very special day, but we hope that this month has been a blast and as wonderful and special as you are. For the months that will follow, we pray that it brings you more strength, peace, and radiance to continue with your journey not just in being a student leader but also as an incredible individual.

Every August, we observe International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Month to raise awareness of the rules that seek to protect human dignity, civilians, and others affected by armed conflict, and to limit the effects of conflict.

This year's theme, "𝘗𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘴 𝘯𝘢 𝘜𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘵 𝘗𝘢𝘨𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘗𝘢𝘨𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘨 𝘐𝘏𝘓" highlights the importance of cooperation and collective efforts in promoting respect for IHL.

IHL is a set of rules that applies during armed conflict. It seeks to limit the effects of armed conflict by protecting persons who are not, or are no longer, taking part in hostilities.

Through its Volunteers, Logistics, and Information Technology, the Philippine Red Cross continues to support awareness and understanding of IHL, promote respect for the emblems of humanity, and provide neutral and impartial humanitarian assistance to people affected by emergencies and armed conflict.
