Narito ang programa at lisatahan ng mga sabayang sesyon para sa ating kauna-unahang Tatsulok: Pambansang Kumperensiya sa Philippine Studies 2026 sa Ignacio B. Gimenez (IBG)-KAL Theatre, UP Diliman, ngayong Hunyo 18–19, 2026, 7:00 n.u. ang simula ng rehistrasyon.
Ang tema ng kumperensiya ay “Rizal at Pagkamakabayan” bilang paggunita sa ika-70 anibersaryo ng Batas Rizal.

Susuriin natin ang naging pag-unlad at pagbabago sa lipunang Pilipino mula noon kina Rizal hanggang ngayon. Ang ugnayan ng akademya, mga kilusang panlipunan at bayan, ang tatsulok na tinatanaw nating magluluwal ng makabuluhang edukasyong huhubog sa makabayan at kritikal na mamamayan na kailangan ng lipunan.

Bahagi ang Kumperensiyang Tatsulok ng mga gawain ng UP DFPP sa ika-60 anibersaryo gayundin ang pagpapahusay ng pagtuturo sa kursong Rizal, at pagpapalakas ng pangkalahatang edukasyon sa Pilipinas.

Inaanyayahan ang lahat na makiisa sa paghahandog ng bulaklak sa busto ni G*t Jose Protacio Rizal sa ika-19 ng Hunyo 2026 sa Bulwagang Palma ganap na ika-8 ng umaga.

Felt Research and Bad Feelings in Mindanao and Sulu, Philippines

"In conducting community engagements on the islands of Mindanao and Sulu in the Southern Philippines, I acknowledged the existence of “bad feelings” that open new possibilities in my framing and re-framing, conceptualising and re-conceptualising, and mediating and re-mediating the “field, time, methodology, the writing process, and what we think of as empirical data” (Moussawi 2021, 79).

This presentation explores the concept of “bad feelings” and how it is tied to what Indigenous and decolonial studies scholar Dian Million (2009) calls “felt research” or the figuration and configuration of feelings as theory, which is guided by felt actions or “the actions informed by experience and analysis” (268). I speculate that “bad feelings” and “felt research” are necessary in the way we decolonise the making, remaking, and archiving of life in Mindanao and Sulu.

Jay Jomar F Quintos is Associate Professor of literature and Philippine studies at the University of the Philippines. He obtained his Ph.D. in Indigenous Studies from Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka | The University of Otago in Aotearoa New Zealand. With Mindanao and Sulu Studies, oral literature, and cinema studies as research interests, his critical works have already appeared in various national and international publications. His short story book, Laksang Pakpak na Pumapagaspas, mga kuwento (A Throng of Wings Flapping, stories), was published by The University of the Philippines Press in 2025."

Prop. Ramon G. Guillermo, Ph.D.

Si Ramon "Bomen" Guillermo ay kasalukuyang Direktor ng UP Sentro ng Araling Internasyonal. Nagsasagawa siya ng mga pananaliksik sa mga larangang Araling Rizal, Araling Salin, Kasaysayang Intelektwal, at Digital na Humanidades. Itinataguyod niya ang konsepto ng Araling Pilipino bilang isang "awtonomong komunidad pangkomunikasyon." Unyonista at aktibista, isa siya sa mga pangunahing tagapagtatag ng Network in Defense of Historical Truth and Academic Freedom. Pinarangalan din siya bilang Social Scientist II ng Unibersidad ng Pilipinas.

Prop. Ma. Crisanta Nelmida-Flores, Ph.D.

Si Prop. Ma. Crisanta “Marot” Nelmida-Flores ay kasalukuyang Professor 12 sa UP DFPP, KAL. Siya ang naging Conference Director ng 1st International & Sesquicentennial (150th Birth Anniversary) Conference on Rizal noong 2011 na inorganisa ng Departamento ng Filipino at Panitikan ng Pilipinas sa ilalim ng Kolehiyo ng Arte at Literatura, sa pakikipagtulungan ng Dalubhasaan ng Agham Panlipunan at Pilosopiya at ng Asian Center o ng TriCollege PhD Philippine Studies Program. Simula 1988, nagtuturo na siya ng kursong Rizal/PI 100 sa DFPP, mga kurso sa panitikan, at Philippine Studies sa batsilyer at graduwadong antas at kasalukuyang pinarangalang Social Scientist II ng Unibersidad ng Pilipinas.
