Established in 1960, the Ateneo Art Gallery is widely recognized today as the first museum of Philippine Modern Art.

It is a University Museum now located at the Areté, Ateneo de Manila University's Creativity and Innovation Hub. The newest iteration of the ’s 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘼𝙘𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 exhibition opens on 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟮𝟴 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

Highlighting works received in recent years, the space expands the representation of contemporary art practices within the permanent collection through the sustained generosity of its supporters.

The new iteration opens at the Mr & Mrs Chung Te Gallery and presents recently donated works by artists and patrons, including paintings, photographs, sculptures, prints, and other media-based works.

Recent donations were received from Rafael Bauza and ADMU College Batch 1972, the Cosio Family, Fundación Juan March, Gino G. Gonzales, the Jesuit Residence (through Fr. Rene Javellana, SJ), Lao Lianben, Jonathan & Lyn Olzao, Deborah Anne N. Tan, Dr. Nicanor G. Tiongson, and Reg & Eloisa A. Zell. Artist donors include Pio Abad, Uri de Ger, Randy Gawwi, Gregory Halili, Christina Lopez, Perry Martin Mamaril, and Tony Twigg.

Apart from works by artist donors, other featured artists include National Artist Salvador Bernal and Guillermo Tolentino, Virgilio Aviado, Carlo Böcklin, Allan Cosio, Honoré Daumier, Roderico Jose Daroy, HAP Grieshaber, Nap Jamir II, Edmond Lavarte, Ramón Montes, Jonathan Olazo, Neal Oshima, Jorge Pineda, Issay Rodriguez, Manuel Rodriguez Jr., Emet Valente, Ryan Villamael, and Fernando Zóbel.

𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗢𝗢𝗡: 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙜 𝙆𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙣 presents selected works from the AAG collection and loaned works by 𝗞𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗻 artists who were first identified with social realism.

See the show at the UGF Mr & Mrs Ching Tan Gallery opening on 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟮𝟴 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, and is on view until 𝟯 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳.

The 𝗞𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗻, founded in 1976, was a group of young visual artists who shared a social orientation and commitment. Its founding members include Pablo “Adi” Baens Santos, Edgar Talusan Fernandez, Renato Habulan, Antipas “Biboy” Delotavo, Papo de Asis, Albert Jimenez, and Jose Cuaresma. They were later joined by Al Manrique, Neil Doloricon, Jose Tence Ruiz, Orlando Castillo, and Vin Toledo.

𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙜 𝙆𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙣 presents an overview of the chapter in Philippine contemporary art that responded to the oppressive and uncertain period of Martial Law and the subsequent years.

Also included are works by National Artist Benedicto Cabrera, Danilo Dalena, Nunelucio Alvarado, and Charlie Co, providing context for the development of socio-realist and protest art in the Philippines before and after the founding of 𝗞𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗻.

Running for six years, Geloy Concepcion's has become an archive of sentiment, its intimacy owing to its anonymity. A confession arrives without a name; its voice belongs to anyone.

After receiving almost 300,000 messages and publishing more than 3,000 notes, the exhibition at the Ateneo Art Gallery—now on view 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝟴 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲—marks the first time Concepcion's project has been presented in an exhibition context.

Featuring published works from the online series alongside new letters gathered from across the Philippines, it brings the project into tangible form and extends its relational nature into a physical context by inviting visitor participation.
