💡 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬

Long gone are the days of a predictable job market where a diploma guaranteed a slot. Today’s professional landscape demands much more to get a semblance of “job security”. It requires adaptability.

In just over a year, our Batch 19 participants will step into this new frontier, and we want to ensure they are fully equipped with the tools and confidence to thrive in this BANI (Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear, Incomprehensible) landscape.

To help them prepare, we kicked off their Career Jumpstart with these key activities:

🎙️ 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀: HR experts shared their ground-level perspectives on current hiring trends, the impact of AI on employment, and personal tips on navigating the job market.

💼 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Participants joined our volunteers for mock their interviews, building on the skills they need to leave a lasting impression and land their first internship.

A massive thank you to the volunteers who shared their invaluable time and expertise to our participants. And to Batch 19—kudos for stepping up to the challenge! This is only phase one of your Career Jumpstart, so be on your toes for what’s coming next!

𝗔 𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 ❤️‍🔥

Unlike other batches, their Trailblazer journey began at the peak of the pandemic. After spending their early years navigating Zoom calls and a challenging transition back to onsite classes, they stayed true to their path. Last August, they finally gathered for a 2-day Pabaon camp packed with remembrance and gratitude.

Here is how Batch 18 spent their final activity together:

🗺️𝐊𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 & 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐩: Walking down memory lane through shared photos, finally making up for the distance of their early years.

🌻 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬: Reflecting on their most significant Pathways experiences through a special video presentation.

💬 𝐊𝐚𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧, 𝐔𝐬𝐚𝐩 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐨: A dedicated open time for everyone to converse as participants one last time.

🌱 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐲𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞: Navigating 3 stations of hope, growth, and commitments; writing their thoughts on note cards for the time capsule.

🏅 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬: A heartfelt ceremony featuring speeches from batchmate Anne Magcalas and Batch 11 alumni Leah Sosa.

🎁 𝐏𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐨𝐧: A moving 4-part journey of receiving community messages, sharing their innermost thoughts while passing salt—their collective hopes—with one another, and a candle-lighting activity embodying who they can be a light for.

⏳ 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐞: Sealing their labyrinth notes along with valuable, personal items to be opened in the future.

To close the event, Pathways Director Ms. Solvie Nubla-Lee reminded the batch that the hurdles they already overcame are proof of their adaptability, noting that just as they navigated the unprecedented start to their college life, they are fully equipped to face the uncertainties of the real world. She assured them that the Pathways family will always be here to listen, cheer them on, and remind them of who they are whenever life gets tough.

In closing this chapter, one might think their journey has ended, but this is just the beginning of their journey as Trailblazers. 💙

On August 7, Pathways was honored to participate in the 𝐒𝐃𝐎 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: 𝐒𝐨𝐢𝐫𝐞́𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 at the Leodegario Victorino Elementary School Cultural Building. During the event, our Recruitment Officer, John Patrick Sicabalo, proudly accepted a plaque of appreciation recognizing our enduring service partnership with the Department of Education.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐄𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐚 for this award and for allowing us to help make education a shared responsibility. As we celebrate National Heroes Day, let us honor our history by refusing to just survive. When our resilience is romanticized to cover up incompetence, we must answer with the courage to demand better. True heroism today isn't just about weathering the storm —it is about having the courage to speak the truth and take what we deserve 🇵🇭
