LOOK | Mr. Gilbert Pajara of Vito L Belarmino Senior High School will be exercising his officiating prowess in the National Open Competition for Track and Field at ULTRA, Pasig City, May 8-12.

The event, which has six (6) categories - elite (Men and Women), junior (M&W), and youth (M&W) - will be participated in by different teams, local and international, like University Athletic Association of the Philippines or UAAP, National College Athletic Association or NCAA, some local clubs, and other teams overseas.

A technical official, Pajara will be serving as a field referee, which he has actively been doing since 2002.

The National Open is an annual event held to scout talents and discover new breed of Philippine Team, catering to the grassroots program of Philippine Athletic Track and Field Association or PATAFA.

"I gained a lot from my experience working as a technical official in national and even international events like this," shared Pajara in utmost humility. "Kaya nga nagluluksa kami ngayon dahil sa pagkawala kamakailan ng isa sa mga mahuhusay naming mentor na si Romeo Sotto, former sports director ng DLSU, at kapatid ni Vic Sotto (That's why we're now in grief due to the untimely passing of our very talented mentor... and brother of Vic Sotto), he expressed.

It must be noted that Pajara was certificated as coach when he represented the Philippines in a seminar accreditation held in Jakarta, Indonesia a couple of years back.
