โ€ŽAng Araw ng mga Bayani o National Heroes Day, na ipinagdiriwang tuwing huling Lunes ng Agosto, ay itinakda sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 9492.

โ€ŽAng tradisyon na ito ay nagbabalik-alaala sa panahon ng pamamahala ng Pamahalaang Amerikano sa Pilipinas, kung kailan ipinasa ng Philippine Legislature ang Act No. 3827 na nagtalaga sa huling Linggo ng Agosto bilang araw para alalahanin ang mga bayaning Pilipino. Gayunpaman, ang kaugalian ng paggunita sa mga hindi kilalang bayani ay nagsimula pa noong dekada 1920, kung kailan naging kaugalian na iugnay ang kanilang kabayanihan sa Bonifacio Day. Noong 1952, muling itinatag ni Pangulong Elpidio Quirino ang hiwalay na paggunita para sa lahat ng mga bayaning Pilipino tuwing huling Linggo ng Agosto. Kalaunan, sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 9492, inilipat ang paggunita mula sa huling Linggo patungo sa huling Lunes ng Agosto. Ito'y paraan upang hindi malimot ang naging SAKRIPISYO at pakikibaka ng ating mga bayani sa kamay ng mga mang-aalipusta.

โ€ŽKaya't marapat na gamitin natin ang araw na ito upang alalahanin kung paano nila ipinaglaban ang ating bayan. Na ngayo'y nasa ilalim naman ng tiwaling pamamalakad ng mga politiko. Ano pa't ang kanilang ipinaglaban na mga karapatan, kapayapaan, at kalayaan kung tayo rin ay magiging kalaban ng ating bayan?

Every August 21, we commemorate Ninoy Aquino Day, a day dedicated to remembering the courage, patriotism and sacrifice of the former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. for the Filipino people.

Former Senator Benigno โ€œNinoyโ€ Aquino Jr. was one of the youngest and most outspoken senators of his generation. He was widely known for his opposition to abuses of power and his unwavering belief in genuine democracy for the Filipino people. His convictions came a a great personal cost, as he was imprisoned for years during Martial Law. Even after being forced into exile, he never stopped advocating for his country's freedom. His long-awaited return to the Philippines on August 21, 1983 would tragically be his last, as he was shot dead moments after stepping off the plane at the Manila International Airport.

His assassination sent shockwaves throughout the nation, uniting Filipinos from all walks of life in grief and defiance. This collective outrage grew into a powerful movement against the dictatorship, ultimately culminating in the peaceful 1986 People Power Revolution that restored democracy to the Philippines. The airport where he was killed was later renamed Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in his honor.

Today, 43 years after his assassination, we remember Ninoy not only for his death but also for his courage to stand for freedom and democracy. May all his courage and sacrifice remind us that love for country is not expressed through words, but also through the willingness to stand for what is right.

Every 19th of August, we celebrate the birth of the first president of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, ๐‘ด๐’‚๐’๐’–๐’†๐’ ๐‘ณ. ๐‘ธ๐’–๐’†๐’›๐’๐’.

Under the ๐—ง๐˜†๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด๐˜€-๐— ๐—ฐ๐——๐˜‚๐—ณ๐—ณ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—”๐—ฐ๐˜, the United States of America promised us Filipinos to be granted independence under the 10-year transition period called "๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—–๐—ผ๐—บ๐—บ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜„๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜๐—ต ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฃ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜€" which started on November 15, 1935. Quezon was elected president after the successful national election on September 17, 1935. From that moment on, Quezon made laws and orders that completely changed the lives of every Filipino including our National Language and the creation of a brand-new capital city named after him, ๐‘ธ๐’–๐’†๐’›๐’๐’ ๐‘ช๐’Š๐’•๐’š.

๐‘ธ๐’–๐’†๐’›๐’๐’ ๐‘ช๐’Š๐’•๐’š was envisioned as a replacement for Manila due to its overpopulation, heavy traffic, and sanitation issues. Itโ€™s also supposed to be the new seat of the government, with Diliman being the center and the heart of it. Though faced with an overwhelming amount of criticisms, it didnโ€™t stop Quezon from forming and creating this city. Soon, Quezon City became the largest and most populated city in Metro Manila. Though the capital was moved back to Manila in 1974, QC still became a ๐˜€๐˜†๐—บ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—น ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฏ๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป and of what couldโ€™ve been.

๐‘ธ๐’–๐’†๐’›๐’๐’ was one of the pillars of our nation who contributed in strengthening the ๐—™๐—ถ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ผ ๐—œ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† by envisioning ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ž๐ฉ๐ž๐ง๐๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž through political leadership, ๐๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐”๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ by establishing social justice and campaigning ๐“๐š๐ ๐š๐ฅ๐จ๐  as the National Language for developing unity, embodying his principle in self - governance, liberty, and solidarity. He notably decided to lead a poor country living with freedom rather than a wealthy nation influenced by prejudice. His interest for ๐—š๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ฑ ๐—š๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ encouraged him to build a strong and effective leadership.

Though Quezon is far from a perfect president or official, may this day be a reminder to us ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜†๐˜€ ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ผ๐˜€๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐˜ƒ๐—ผ๐˜๐—ฒ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ผ ๐˜๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—น๐˜† ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ป๐˜๐—ฟ๐˜†. Afterall, we are not searching for a perfect or ambitious candidate like Quezon, but someone who has the ๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜ and ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ to lead with ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ and ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜๐˜†. As we honor and uphold the legacy of our Former President Manuel L. Quezon, we declare this day as a National Holiday to memorialize his contributions and firm dedication for our country. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

Sa unang hakbang ng panibagong paglalakbay, nasilayan natin ang saya, kaba at sigla ng mga QCians. Sa kabila ng pabago-bagong panahon, nairaos natin ang pagsalubong sa selebrasyon nang matiwasay at matagumpay.

Patuloy din tayong pinasaya ng makukulay na mga pagtatanghal, talento at dedikasyon na nagsilbing libangan na talaga namang kinagiliwan ng ating mga bagong iskolar ng bayan. Kayaโ€™t panibagong taon na naman ang ating pagsasamahan upang makabuo ng panibagong karanasan, pagkakaibigan at mga ala-alang hindi malilimutan.

Sinimulan ang bagong school year sa flag ceremony ng mga freshmen sa QCU gymnasium. Puno ng saya at kaba ang unang nadarama tungo sa kanilang bagong paglalakbay. Sa kabila ng pagbagsak ng hindi inaasahang na ulan, ay pinainit at pinasaya ng Tanghalang QCU Dancers and Chorale pati na rin ng Kalayaan Dance Company ang mga bagong Iskolar ng Bayan sa pamamagitan ng pagpapakita ng kanilang kahanga-hangang talento sa entablado.

Sa kabilang dako namaโ€™y, hindi nag-patinag ang mga estudyante kayaโ€™t tuloy pa rin ang saya sa pagbubukas booths sa kabila ng matinding ulan. Nakita ito sa bawat dedikasyon na mayroon ang bawat organisasyon.

Natapos ang araw na dala-dala ng lahat ang bagong pagkakaibigan, bagong karanasan, at inspirasyong magsisilbing gabay sa mga susunod pang mga taon. Simula pa lamang ito sa mga susunod pang makabuluhang paglalakbay, kung saan tiyak na marami pang magagandang alaala ang mabubuo mula sa ating mga yapak.
