NSTP Diliman Office This is the official FB Page of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Diliman Office. Three NSTP Program Components:

THE UP DILIMAN NSTP OFFICE

The National Service Training Program Act of 2001 (R.A. 9163) was enacted in response to public clamor for reforms in the Reserved Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Program. This Act affirms that the prime duty of the government shall be to serve and protect its citizens. In turn, it shall be the responsibility of all its citizens to defend the security of the State; thus, the government may require each citizen to render personal, military or civil service. In the pursuit of these goals, the youth shall be motivated, trained, organized, and mobilized in military training, literacy, civic welfare, and other similar endeavors in service to the nation. The NSTP is a program aimed at enhancing civic consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth by developing the ethics of service and patriotism while undergoing training in any of its program components. Its various components are specially designed to enhance the youth’s active contribution to the general
welfare of the nation. All male and female students enrolled in any baccalaureate or in at least two (2)-year technical/vocational or associate courses are required to complete the equivalent of two (2) semesters of an NSTP Common Module for the period of at least 25-hours and any one of the NSTP components listed below as a requisite for graduation:
1) Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC)
2) Literacy Training Service (LTS)
3) Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS)

The UP Diliman NSTP is a newly formed office under the Office of the Chancellor aimed at promoting and applying the university’s primary goal to serve the people and the nation through espousing the spirit of volunteerism within and outside the UP community. The UP Diliman NSTP Office was officially established by virtue of a decision made by the Board of Regents during its 1288th BOR Meeting on 20 June 2013. Its function is to administer, manage, and coordinate all NSTP offerings and activities in UP Diliman in accordance with Republic Act 9163 of 2001 and its duly approved implementing rules and regulations. It is also tasked to ensure that the objectives of the NSTP are achieved for all UP Diliman students regardless of their home colleges and departments. Under the Republic Act No. 9163, NSTP is defined as “a program aimed at enhancing civic consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth by developing the ethics of service and patriotism while undergoing training in any of its three (3) program components. Its various components are specially designed to enhance the youth’s active contribution to the general welfare.”

Our Tasks
1.To be a center of NSTP related matters in UP Diliman.
2.To undertake a participatory and collaborative process in designing the NSTP UP Diliman Program that encapsulates the NSTP IRR and freedom of education, diversity and the independence of each College/Unit/Discipline to draw from its own particular body of knowledge.
3.To ensure the rights and welfare of faculty and students and to draw up University protocols that affect NSTP Programs.
4.To facilitate projects that strengthen community service amongst UP Diliman students. CWTS (1-2) or “Civic Welfare Training Service”refers to programs or activities contributory to the general welfare and the betterment of life for the members of the community or the enhancement of its facilities, especially those devoted to improving health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation and morals of the citizenry.
2. LTS or “Literacy Training Service” is a program designed to train students to become teachers of literacy and numeracy skills to school children, out of school youth, and other segments of society in need of their service.
3. ROTC or “Reserve Officers’ Training Corps” is a program institutionalized under Sections 38 and 39 of Republic Act No. 7077 designed to provide military training to tertiary level students in order to motivate, train, organize and mobilize them for national defense preparedness. Our Activities:

Hello, mga Klasmeyts! Makakasama natin si Prof. Nestor T. Castro, Ph.D. Siya ay dalubhasa sa Cultural Anthropology, Indigenous Peoples, ethnicity, cultural heritage, at museology. Nagsagawa rin siya ng malawakang field research sa mga Indigenous communities sa Pilipinas at iba’t ibang bahagi ng Southeast Asian and Pacific regions.

Tatalakayin natin ang pagkakakilanlan at karapatan ng Indigenous Peoples, kasama na rin ang Indigenous Peoples’ Rights Act of 1997 (IPRA). Pag-uusapan din natin ang mga hamon sa ancestral domains, kultura, at kalikasan.

Bibigyang-diin ang kahalagahan ng makabuluhang pakikilahok at pahintulot sa mga desisyong nakakaapekto sa Indigenous communities.

Idinaos ang Pulong ng Konseho ng NSTP Diliman sa Zoom noong ika-17 ng Agosto 2026 bilang pagsalubong sa Unang Semestre, Akademikong Taon 2026-2027. Bunsod ng pag-anunsyo ng alternative work arrangements dahil sa masamang panahon, isinagawang online ang pulong.

Ipinakilala sa pulong ang mga bagong tagapag-ugnay ng NSTP at pinag-usapan ang ulat ng mga gawain ng Tanggapan ng NSTP Diliman noong nakaraang semestre.
