The Master in Public Safety Administration is a capstone program administered by the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) based on Section 66 of Republic Act 6975, otherwise known as the “Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Act of 1990”, which mandated PPSC to serve as the premier educational institution for the training, human resource development and continuing education of all personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). The DILG Act of 1990 mandates PPSC to provide policy, structural, operational, and professional development framework for the public safety sector and its uniformed personnel. PPSC Masteral Program is with the full concurrence and cognizance of the Commission on Higher Education. In line with the concept development of the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) to mainstream public safety in national security, we are also currently reviving the PPSC’s flagship academic program—the Master in Public Safety Administration or the MPSA as a distinct field of study. The revival of the MPSA—as-a prestigious graduate program for senior public safety officers, government officials, and other intellectuals—is wanting for us to sustain the momentum of professionalizing this multi-sectoral and non-military component of national security.
