Dulaang Unibersidad ng Pilipinas (DUP Official Page) is presenting the play "The House of Bernarda Alba" by García Lorca in English and Tagalo from September 6 to 29, 2019.
Federico García Lorca (1898-1936) is perhaps the most famous Spanish poet and playwright of the 20th century. He was part of a group of artists known as Generation '27.
One of his most successful poetry collections are "Canciones" (Songs), published in 1927, and "Romancero gitano" (Gypsy Ballads), published in 1928. Lorca became popular after the premiere of a folk drama "Bodas de Sangre" (Blood Wedding) in 1933 in Argentina. He later came back to Spain to work on more plays such as "La Casa de Bernarda Alba" (The House of Bernarda Alba) in 1936, which was his last.
Lorca was arrested and then executed in August 1936, at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War.
The author described "The House of Bernarda Alba" as “a drama of women in the villages of Spain”. The exclusion of any male character was a deliberate decision to depict the matriarch’s domination of five daughters.

Bukod sa kauna-unahang gintong medalya, naiuwi din ng Pilipinas ang biggest Olympic medal haul nito.
Kung ikukumpara noong 2016 Rio Olympics, kung saan nanguna ang Thailand sa 35th place na may 2 gold 2 silver at 2 bronze, sinundan ng Indonesia na may 1 gold at 2 silver sa 46th at Malaysia na may 4 na silver at isang bronze sa 60th. Habang nasa 69th place ang Pilipinas na may isang silver medal.
Ngayon, tayo na ang nangunguna at pinatunayan natin na kahit pandemic, sa !
