Creating safer spaces starts with strong systems and shared responsibility.
On January 30, 2026, a Protocol Development Workshop was held at the University Hotel, Diliman, Quezon City, bringing together members of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Council and the Office of Anti-Sexual Harassment (OASH).

The UP Diliman OASH condemns the statements made by Representative B**g Suntay during the House deliberations on 03 March 2026.
Communicating sexist or smutty remarks that cause discomfort, embarrassment, offense, or insult constitutes sexual harassment. Such remarks are clearly unwelcome and inappropriate, especially when made in a public forum by an elected official.
These statements reflect the very behaviors that laws and policies such as Republic Act No. 11313 (Safe Spaces Act) and the UP Anti-Sexual Harassment Code seek to address.
While we note that Representative Suntay has since issued an apology, sexual harassment is not a trivial matter. Public officials must exercise greater responsibility in their words and actions. An apology must also reflect a genuine commitment to learn from the incident and uphold the standards of respect and accountability expected in public service.
