The Assessment, Curriculum and Technology Research Centre (ACTRC) is a partnership between the University of Melbourne and the University of the Philippines. The Centre is an Australian Aid initiative and seeks to advise and inform the Philippine system of education through curriculum, teaching and assessment research that is based on empirical studies of curriculum innovation and implementation.

On 18 September 2024, directors, research officers, and staff of the Assessment, Curriculum, and Technology Research Centre (ACTRC), headed by incoming Director Dr. Marlene Ferido and outgoing Director Marie Therese Bustos, visited the Faculty of Education of the National Kaohsiung Normal University (NKNU) in Taiwan to learn about each otherโs research practices and projects and to explore future research collaborations. The ACTRC team likewise met NKNU President, Dr Cheng-Yen, Wang along with other NKNU officials: Dr. Chen-Cheng, Chun (Director of International Affairs) and Dr. Jen-Chun, Wang (Director of the Office of Research and Development). A short program was hosted by the Faculty of Education, with presentations by Dean Dr Der-Long, Fang who introduced NKNU, Dr. Jen-Chun, Wang who discussed the research profile of NKNU, Dr. Pi-Chi, Han who talked about research projects of the Research Center for Adult Education, and Dr Meng-Jun, Liu who presented the profile of the Department of Special Education. Similarly, the ACTRC team introduced UP and ACTRCโs profile and research agenda and projects through video presentations. The forum that followed focused on the Philippinesโ and Taiwanโs Senior High School program, teacher certification, teacher training, special education, and mother tongue education. Plans for future research collaborations were also explored. The ACTRC team also visited the Special Education Center at the NKNU campus.
