STUDENT ADVISORY

Continuity of Learning and Student Support Amid Weather-Related Class Suspensions

Dear T.I.P. Students,

The recent effects of the ”habagat” (Southwest Monsoon) have brought heavy rains and flooding to many parts of the country, including Metro Manila. We recognize that these conditions have affected not only the normal conduct of classes but, more importantly, the daily lives, mobility, safety, and ability of many of our students to keep pace with their studies.

T.I.P. wants you to know that the institution is one with you during this difficult period. We understand that repeated class suspensions and the shift between face-to-face and online learning may present additional challenges, particularly for students who are already experiencing difficulties in keeping up with their academic requirements.

To ensure continuity of learning while being sensitive to the circumstances of our students, the following measures are being implemented:

Online Classes - During periods when face-to-face classes are suspended, classes shall continue through synchronous or asynchronous online delivery, as may be appropriate and announced by the institution.

Free Tutorials - Free tutorials in major courses, including Mathematics and Physics, shall continue. These services will be more actively promoted to encourage students who need additional academic support to take advantage of them. The Academic Deans were instructed to advise the program chairs get actively engaged in these activities. Hence, standby for announcement of schedules from the academic officers concerned.

Supplemental Learning Materials - Faculty members shall be advised to provide and upload supplemental materials, recorded lectures, and additional reading resources through Canvas LMS to help students remain aligned with the intended course learning outcomes.

Consideration for Deliverables and Requirements - Appropriate extensions for academic requirements and deliverables may be granted when circumstances arising from class disruptions prevent students from submitting them on time.

Completion of Missed Laboratory Activities and Assessments - Faculty members shall facilitate appropriate arrangements for missed laboratory activities, assessments, and other essential academic requirements to ensure that students are given reasonable opportunities to complete them.

We understand that students respond differently to these circumstances. Some may be able to continue with their studies with minimal difficulty, while others may be facing significant challenges because of flooding, transportation difficulties, loss of connectivity, displacement, family circumstances, or repeated class suspensions.

If you are finding it increasingly difficult to keep pace with your studies, please do not hesitate to seek help. You are encouraged to approach your Dean and/or Program Chair/Department Head so that your situation can be given the appropriate assistance.

For urgent academic concerns that require further assistance, students may also approach the Office of the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA) or the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs (SVPAA).

Please remember that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. It is part of taking responsibility for your education.

T.I.P. remains committed to ensuring that no student is unnecessarily left behind because of circumstances beyond their control. While we remain steadfast in upholding our academic standards and learning outcomes, we will continue to exercise understanding, flexibility, and compassion where circumstances warrant.

SAFETY AND SECURITY ADVISORY

Dear T.I.P. Community,

The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff remain among T.I.P.’s highest priorities. As part of our continuing efforts to provide a safe and secure campus environment, we will be strengthening some of our security measures beginning Tuesday August 25, 2026.

These additional measures are precautionary and preventive in nature and are intended to give everyone greater protection and peace of mind while inside our campuses.

What to Expect
1. ID Checks – All students, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and visitors are kindly requested to present a valid ID upon entering the campus.

2. Enhanced Security Screening – Bag inspection, hand-held metal detector scanning, and, when necessary, appropriate security checks will be conducted. Vehicles entering the campus may likewise be subject to inspection.

3. Increased Security Presence – Additional security personnel will be positioned at key entry and exit points, complemented by strengthened CCTV monitoring.

4. Continued Assistance from Police and Barangay Tanods – Our police and barangay tanod partners will continue to assist in maintaining safety and security around our campuses.

5. Everyone's Cooperation at Entry Points – We kindly ask everyone to allow sufficient time for entry and to cooperate patiently with our security personnel as these measures are implemented.

We understand that some of these procedures may cause a little inconvenience, particularly during peak hours. We sincerely ask for everyone's patience, understanding, and cooperation as we implement these measures. They are being undertaken not to cause concern or apprehension, but to provide an added layer of protection for our entire community.

Your safety is our shared responsibility. With everyone's cooperation, we can maintain a campus environment where our students can learn, and our faculty and staff can work, with confidence and peace of mind.

Every great innovation starts with an idea that aims to make a difference.

Inspired to help coconut farmers to reduce crop losses, the TechNovaTronics team from the T.I.P. Quezon City Electronics Engineering programs developed CocoGuard—a portable acoustic-based device that uses deep learning to detect early pest infestation in coconut trees.

Their idea earned 1st Place at the Spark-A-Change Pitching Competition 2.0: Fueling MSMEs with Innovation, organized by the Department of Science and Technology - National Capital Region (DOST-NCR).

ADVISORY
Due to the effects of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), please be guided by the following:

1. Tuesday, August 18, 2026 – Manila and Quezon City: Onsite classes are suspended, classes shall instead be online synchronous thru the Canvas LMS

2. Wednesday, August 19, 2026 – Manila: Onsite classes are suspended, classes shall be online synchronous thru the Canvas LMS Quezon City: No onsite and online classes due to celebration of QC Day

3. Thursday, August 20, 2026 – Manila and Quezon City: Onsite classes suspended; classes shall instead be online Asynchronous thru the Canvas LMS

4. Friday, August 21, 2026 – Manila and Quezon City: No classes in observance of the holiday

5. Onsite classes shall resume on Saturday, August 22, 2026, for students who have classes on Saturdays.

6. For non-teaching employees, Onsite office work shall proceed as scheduled. However, should travel or workplace conditions compromise personal safety, employees may file their Vacation Leave in accordance with existing policies and procedures.

ADVISORY

MALACAÑANG HAS SUSPENDED ONSITE CLASSES. Therefore, ONSITE CLASSES IN T.I.P. QUEZON CITY AND T.I.P. MANILA SHALL BE SUSPENDED AT 11:30 AM today Friday, August 14, 2026.

Faculty members are advised to shift to ASYNCHRONOUS ONLINE MODALITY via the Canvas Learning Management System.

Onsite office work shall proceed as scheduled.

Faculty members are advised to shift to ASYNCHRONOUS ONLINE MODALITY via the Canvas Learning Management System.
