Sabi nga ng isang science fiction writer na si William Gibson, “The future is already here - it’s just not evenly distributed.”

Working in the development sector, we're fully aware of the multiple disparities among our learners: some are geographical, some economic, some rooted in access and opportunity. But one thing remains true: what one group might experience are just faraway dreams or realities to some.

This coming June 6, we'll be offering a Futures Thinking workshop, which covers beginner-friendly tools to help us assess our current realities and explore more possibilities together. 🗺️🚀

Tara, let's sharpen our tools and perspective together!

Tina - sino si Tina?? 😱

TINA, or there is no alternative, is a actually a term to one of our most famous feelings (especially nowadays!): wala nang magagawa.

Hmm, wala nga ba?

Futures Thinking is a mindset that explores multiple plausible futures. No, hindi siya magic or prediction, but it invites us to think and strategize multiple possibilities.

We'll explore this and more this coming June 6 @ Habi HQ! This is our first time introducing a Futures Thinking module for Habi Academy!

Led by Carlo Lopa, a distinguished fellow with a Master's in Foresight. An in‑person, half‑day workshop designed to spark new ways of imagining possibilities.

In this workshop, we designed a space where learners can pause and reflect — a check‑in, but where folks are able to share more than the often watered‑down responses to “Kumusta ka?”

At check-ins, we shared our wins for the week, and wow — what an amazing group they are! Some mentioned facilitating a big group (including the higher‑ups!), others got their academic work published, and some finished a major work milestone. But the most personal wins involved catching up with dear friends and family.

We gathered design inspiration from our Designing Yourself LXD Core Program module and used Wellbeing Landscape as our main reflection tool. We used metaphors to describe our current landscape and shared our sketches in small groups.

Throughout the conversation, the themes of uncertainty and transition phases were common. Yet the group left feeling inspired, human, insightful, and even “warm fuzzy feeling” — their actual words!

From Designing the Present, we’ll take the next step toward the future. On June 6, we’ll dive deep into Futures Thinking tools and practice, collectively making sense of our individual contexts.

Hey, you. Yes, you!

We see you grinding: whether it’s for your family, surviving in this economy, or serving the communities we care about. We recognize the super (!!) hard work you’ve been putting into every task.

So let’s pause for a moment. Take a breath, rest, and reflect: Which body of water represents your energy today?

Feel free to share it in our comment section—totally up to you how you want to express it. 🤗

We’re carrying this same intentionality into our upcoming kumustahan space this Friday: Designing from the Present. It’s virtual, and we’d love for you to join us!

If you’re interested but funds are tight right now, no worries—you can settle payments until next week. We truly hope to see you there.

Until then, take it easy, folks. 💙

Heto na nga po... nagbabalik muli ang Habi Academy! 🎉

Sa dami ng nangyayari sa buhay at mundo ngayon, when was the last time you checked in with yourself? With your community?

Highlighting our sense of awareness and agency as designers, how might we make sense of all these in the design work that we do?

Tara, pag-usapan natin 'yan! We're once again opening our creative lab so we can learn together. 🫱🏼‍🫲🏼
