Today's International Literacy Day is especially significant because it marks 60 years since UNESCO first declared it in 1966. What started six decades ago as a global promise to fight illiteracy has brought us to this year’s theme: “Literacy for people, the planet and prosperity.”
Here in the Philippines, true prosperity begins when we ensure every single child has the chance to read.
At the Readability Center, we know that many families want to provide extra reading support for their children but find it hard to fit into the budget. We developed Gabay Pagbasa, a program that offers scholarships and financial aid to bring quality reading remediation within reach for more Filipino families, continuing that 60-year global mission right in our local communities.
By helping children strengthen their reading skills today, we are setting them up for a brighter, more secure future.
Let's work together to improve literacy in the Philippines. 🇵🇭
