READ | MEMORANDUM NO. OSR-AMRM 2026-001: Systemwide Black Friday Mobilization Against Pax Silica on September 18 as a buildup for the 54th Martial Law Commemoration on September 21
There is no just peace in imperialist plunder. Five months after the Philippines joined the US-led Pax Silica coalition, the Marcos Jr. administration continues to position the country as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub for foreign capital and war machinery.
Amidst this firm opposition of our Iskolars ng Bayan to Pax Silica, we have since been met with fascist state repression. We know who is behind the open permission of an imperialist agenda and imposition of fascism in our country. From then until now, the Marcos name has stayed true to its branding: a puppet of US Imperialism who will use all its forces to silence all those who resist his impunity. We are urged to strongly stand together to let Marcos Jr. know that the youth will fight back.
In light of these political situations, the UP Office of the Student Regent calls for the conduct of a Systemwide Black Friday Mobilization against Pax Silica on September 18 as a buildup for our 54th Martial Law Commemoration on September 21. This is also in line with recently passed GASC Resolution No. 2026-026: A resolution mobilizing the General Assembly of Student Councils to intensify the anti-imperialist campaign against U.S.-Marcos Jr. plunder and war, thereby opposing Pax Silica, the proposed modular reactor in UP land, the U.S. military oil depot in Mindanao, and other U.S.-led military-industrial initiatives
Let us unite in defending our student leaders, national sovereignty, and national development, even if this means walking out from our classrooms once again, flooding the streets with the youth in linked arms with other sectors, and marching with the unity of defeating imperialism and creating genuine pax (peace) that truly serves the interests of the Filipino people.
