What does an AI-powered classroom look like in real life?โœจ

For SEAMEO INNOTECHโ€™s Learning Coaches, the future of education came to life during their visit to the Affiliated Experimental Elementary School of the University of Taipei (ESUT)โ€”one of the seven institutional visits under the 10th Learning Coaches Capacity Building and Certification Course, held on April 27โ€“May 1, 2026 in Taipei, Taiwan.

Featured by HABOOK, the visit gave participants a firsthand look at how Taiwan is transforming classrooms through AI-enabled and data-driven learning. From smart teaching platforms like TEAM Model and HiTeach to interactive โ€œ1-to-1 tabletโ€ learning environments, educators witnessed how technology can make classrooms more engaging, collaborative, and learner-centered.

One of the highlights was an AI-supported bilingual Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) class, where students actively shared ideas while AI tools generated real-time summaries, mind maps, and insights that helped teachers better support learning and student engagement. The delegation also explored how AI-powered lesson observation tools are helping educators turn classroom experiences into more focused, data-informed teaching decisions.

Facilitated by INNOTECH through Marvin Dominic B. Buena and Michelle Sarabillo, the learning journey encouraged participants to reflect on how these innovative practices can be adapted to strengthen teaching and learning in their own contexts.

Through initiatives like this, SEAMEO INNOTECH continues to empower Learning Coaches to champion innovation, collaboration, and transformative education across Southeast Asiaโ€”one smart classroom at a time. ๐Ÿ’ก

Across Southeast Asia, education leaders are coming together to strengthen STEM leadership and drive change. ๐ŸŒ

From 27โ€“30 April 2026, the STEM Education Leadership for Change Programme โ€“ Training of Trainers Workshop in Bangkok, Thailand brought together key stakeholders to collaborate, learn, and build a stronger foundation for future-ready STEM education.

Led by SEAMEO STEM-ED and implemented in partnership with SEAMEO INNOTECH, SEAMEO RECSAM, SEAMEO SEAMOLEC, and Caravan of Knowledgeโ€”with Michigan State University as a key international collaborator and funding support from Chevronโ€”the program highlights the power of regional and global collaboration. As participants, the INNOTECH teamโ€”Dr. Juan Robertino D. Macalde, Ethel Joan Atienza, and Ma. Regina Peรฑarroyoโ€”together with STEM trainers Dr. Sheryl Lyn Monterola, Dr. Ricky Magno, and Dr. Christian Sango, exchanged insights, explored innovative tools, and co-developed strategies.

With INNOTECH set to lead the Philippine implementation, the journey continues on 26โ€“28 May at INNOTECH. Teacher-leaders, school leaders, and education managers will take part in the next phase of the programโ€”bringing shared learnings into action and driving meaningful change in classrooms and communities.

What happens when policy, education, and partnerships come together? ๐ŸŒ

Last May 6, at the INNOTECH Seminar Series, Usec. Ronald Mendoza, PhD, of Strategic Management at the DepEd Philippines, unpacked how public-private partnerships (PPPs) can help reshape the future of education.

In his presentation, โ€œBroadening the Public-Private Partnership Horizon: DepEd Perspective,โ€ Usec. Mendoza emphasized the value of collaboration among government, private sector, and communities in addressing education challenges, driving innovation, and improving learning outcomes for all.
The discussion highlighted a timely reminder: building more inclusive, resilient, and future-ready education systems requires shared responsibility and collective action.
