After day 2 of the NMM/IS Training, attendees Aris Ordonez from Bicol University and Clark Gonzales from CARAGA State University were given the opportunity to explore UP Data Commons, an HPC and storage facility at UP Diliman College of Science, as guided by UP Commons Director Johnrob Bantang and tech personnel Darwin Ramos.

[HAPPENING NOW] Asi@Connect- Network Management & Monitoring and Internet Security Training in the Philippines 🌐
Held today, May 26, 2025 at the UP University Computer Center in Diliman, Philippines, the bipartite workshop will cover two key topics:

1. Network management and monitoring
2. Network security

The training will focus on network infrastructure security to establish robust, stable networks through managing network devices, monitoring performances, securing the network from threats, examining protocols to protect data from potential attacks, and many others.

Bicol University is one of DOST-ASTI’s partner universities in our project called Open Network Testbed Laboratory for Internet Technologies Deployment and Experimentation (ON-IDLE). The project, implemented together with the Asia Open RAN Academy, is supported by a grant from the APNIC Foundation, via the Information Society Innovation Fund (ISIF Asia).

Seamless connectivity as BU launches EduROAM, among the first in Bicol

The global Wi-Fi network Education Roaming (EduROAM), providing seamless and international internet access to students, faculty members, and university personnel, is now here at Bicol University, following its official launching, through the BU Information Communication and Technology Office (ICTO).

With one account, BUeños can seamlessly connect to EduROAM across thousands of hotspots in over 100 countries worldwide. As of writing, BU and the Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) are the only institutions in the Bicol region offering EduROAM access.
