During our Career Development Lecture Series last March 21, CIIT alum Dustin Go (Diploma in Multimedia Communication, Batch 2016) shared some honest, eye-opening lessons from his winding journey to becoming a Senior Visual Communication Specialist at NIRAS. Here are a few gems he left us with:

🔹 Failure is part of the journey.

Dustin reminded us that it’s okay to stumble. From shifting courses to 18 months of unemployment post-graduation, he emphasized that failure isn’t final—it’s just part of the process of figuring things out.

🔹 You don’t need to be the best—just self-aware.

He shared how he once felt “average” compared to his peers, but still found his place where business, design, and education intersected. Your unique mix of experiences and interests can lead you somewhere great.

🔹 The 3Ps: Pera, Passion, and Pressure.

Dustin introduced this framework to help make sense of career decisions. But what ties it all together? Purpose. And that’s something you discover through time, reflection, and experience—not overnight.

Take these lessons with you as you explore your own path. There’s no perfect map—but there is growth in every detour.
