We are proud to organize this year's The President's Challenge (TPC)! Once again, we highlight innovation by challenging the ideas of our students through quick prototyping and gathering feedback from intended users. This was the focus of the Design Thinking Workshop for TPC participants held on March 10, 2026. The participants held informal interviews with members of the MC Loyola Heights community to help them improve their initial proposals. After this initial process, teams with innovative ideas that are in line with this year's theme, Reimagining the Concrete Jungle, will be selected for the finals on March 26.

Big cheers for our 30 OMSMPC Masterclass scholars! They have officially completed an intensive, four-month Masterclass on Technopreneurship Training of Trainers, successfully turning ambitious ideas into actionable skills for their micro-enterprises. This journey was made possible through the strong partnership of DOST- National Capital Region, Miriam College, and the Online Micro Sellers Multipurpose Cooperative (OMSMPC). Together, these organizations have equipped our scholars with the mindset, tools, and confidence necessary to lead with innovation and resilience.
The ceremony began with inspiring opening remarks from Ms. Maria Cristina Ibaรฑez (MC HSSIC Innovation Resource and MCTBI Manager) and Mr. Osric Quibot (DOST-NCR Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operations). Their insights set a professional and motivating tone for the testimonials shared by scholars Mr. Ralf Llaguno and Ms. Evangeline Tambuyat, who spoke openly about how the program reshaped their perspectives on entrepreneurship and its impact on the community. Our graduates are also grateful for the guidance of their masterclass professors and mentorsโDr. Resty Collado, Ms. Margarita Caparas, Mr. Oscar Torres, Mr. Marc Hermo, and Mr. Dan Franciscoโwhose expertise was instrumental throughout the program.
To conclude the celebration, OMSMPC General Manager Mr. Jan Caparas delivered a message emphasizing that the growth and innovation demonstrated by these scholars directly align with the cooperativeโs long-term vision. These graduates truly represent the future of OMSMPCโempowered, forward-thinking, and ready to create a lasting macro impact.

HANDA, Action!
Learning by doing took center stage at the Miriam College Henry Sy, Sr. Innovation Center as students stepped into real-world disaster scenarios during an experiential disaster simulation exhibit held last February 2โ3, 2026.
In collaboration with DOSTโNCR, DOSTโPAGASA, and DOSTโPHIVOLCS, the event brought science to life through short yet insightful talks on weather hazards, earthquakes, and disaster preparednessโempowering students with knowledge that could one day save lives.
Ms. Kristine Dionne B. Lagunsad, Science Research Specialist I from DOSTโPHIVOLCS, and Ms. Vivian Gay C. Aggasid, Weather Specialist II from DOSTโPAGASA, shared their expertise through a concise yet insightful session that helped students better understand the science behind natural hazards and disaster preparedness.
The exhibit was attended by Miriam College High School students as part of their STEM Week celebration, along with SDTEC students, HEU students and CSC Grade School students with their parents, among others. As they explored the disaster exhibits and simulators, participants gained a deeper understanding of how natural hazards occur, how they affect communities, and how to be better preparedโshowing that being handa in disasters means knowing, experiencing, and taking action.

We're proud to advocate the Laro, Likha, and Linang design thinking process of our home institution in our programs: fostering entrepreneurs who embrace play, drive action, and pursue growth.
The LLL Way to PBL: Project-Based Learning (PBL) is an instructional approach in which students acquire subject knowledge and skills by working toward the completion of an authentic, meaningful task. Unlike the traditional view of a project as a final output produced at the end of a learning period to demonstrate understanding, PBL places the project at the core of the learning process, allowing it to evolve alongside studentsโ growing mastery of content. At Miriam College, we advocate a localized design thinking framework to guide students in developing innovative projects: Laro (Play), Likha (Produce), and Linang (Perfect). In the Laro stage, students broaden their perspectives on a problem by adopting a playful and exploratory mindset, engaging with new ideas and possibilities through carefully designed entry events. This is followed by the Likha stage, where students bring their ideas to life by creating prototypes at varying levels of fidelity and presenting these to the intended beneficiaries to gather feedback. The process culminates in the Linang stage, during which students refine and improve their solutions based on the insights gained. Through the LLL process, Miriam College students develop as innovative and creative designers of solutions as they actively engage in meaningful PBL experiences.
