Frustrated aspirations | Joel L. Tan-Torres
Conclusion My term as dean of the University of the Philippines Diliman Virata School of Business (UPD VSB) or College of Business Administration (CBA) to a large extent was under the remote learning set-up brought about by the academic community response to the Covid-19 pandemic. I was in my fifth....

Frustrated aspirations | Joel L. Tan-Torres
Part four I have oftentimes been asked if I made the right decision regarding my services as dean of the University of the Philippines Diliman Virata School of Business (UP VSB). My frustrated aspirations are aplenty…non-cooperation from protesting VSB professors, lack of support from the UP admin...

Part three I was not paid a single centavo of salary as Dean of the University of the Philippines (UP) Virata School of Business (VSB) despite serving my full term in the College. I was Dean of the VSB from October 2019 to 2022. But alas, due to the machinations…

To the graduates of the CBA Batch of 2022
I extend my repeated congratulations on your completion of your chosen course programs.
Most of you attended your “Student-led” recognition ceremony last 30 July 2022 in the UP Science Complex. It is disappointing to note that this event resulted in being “Student-led” and not College-sponsored, and was held outside the College premises.
I was informed of the turn of events when your batch representatives requested from the concerned College officials for the holding of this once-in-a-lifetime event. Per my feedback, the “authorized” Faculty members rejected this request. Hence, your batch was compelled to organize this “Student-led” activity outside your own College.
It is unfortunate that I was not in a position to be involved in this matter. I was then serving my preventive suspension when your request was filed and hence, unable to intervene (see my post of 26 April 2022 entitled “Travesty of Justice” on this FB page for details on my suspension). If the decision for College-sponsored recognition rites was referred to me, I would have readily approved this
Alas, it was not meant to be. Thus the wet and rainy Student-led recognition rites last Saturday.
