The development of indigenous satellite capabilities is an important milestone for emerging space nations. Through the Maya CubeSat program, the Philippines has been steadily building expertise in spacecraft engineering, mission operations, Earth observation, and remote sensing applications.
In this seminar, Ariel Nopre Jr. will present the evolution of the Philippine nanosatellite program, highlighting the goals, challenges, and achievements of the Maya missions, with particular emphasis on the ongoing Maya-7 project. The presentation will provide insights into CubeSat development, mission planning, payload integration, and the role of nanosatellites in fostering scientific research, technological innovation, and workforce development.
The talk will also explore future directions for space technology development in the Philippines and opportunities for international collaboration in nanosatellite engineering and Earth observation missions.
๐ท About the Speaker
Ariel Nopre Jr. is an MSc student in Electrical Engineering specializing in Nanosatellite Engineering at the University of the Philippines Diliman. He is a Remote Sensing Scientist with the UPD-NIGS LInOG Project and currently serves as Co-Project Manager and Missions Lead of the Maya-7 nanosatellite mission.
His work focuses on nanosatellite systems engineering, mission planning, remote sensing applications, and satellite payload development. Through his involvement in the Maya program, he contributes to advancing the Philippines' growing capabilities in space technology and Earth observation.
