Congratulations to Team MASID for bringing pride to the Philippines as winners in the 6th IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) Student Grand Challenge.

Team MASID (Microwave Assessment for Spectrum Integrity and Disaster Response) is composed of:
โ€ข Ariel Nopre Jr. (Team Leader) โ€“ University of the Philippines Diliman
โ€ข John Michael Ray Zamora โ€“ University of the Philippines Diliman
โ€ข Sophia Gabrielle Suarez โ€“ University of Santo Tomas
โ€ข Kiel Ethan Lanzanas โ€“ Adamson University
โ€ข Jann Rovic Cueto โ€“ Rizal Technological University
โ€ข Dr. Mark Angelo Purio (Adviser) โ€“ Adamson University

Their project proposes a PocketQube payload designed to monitor radio-frequency interference in microwave radiometry bands, a critical issue affecting the integrity of satellite-based Earth observation data. By addressing spectrum integrity, their work contributes to more reliable applications in climate monitoring, environmental assessment, and disaster response.

This achievement demonstrates the strength of inter-university collaboration in the Philippines and highlights the growing capability of Filipino students in space systems engineering, microwave instrumentation, and remote sensing.

The team will further develop their project and present their results at IGARSS, one of the leading international conferences in geoscience and remote sensing.

A significant milestone for Philippine space and remote sensing innovation.
