The Womenโs and Gender Studies Association of the Philippines (WSAP) proudly celebrates the recognition of one of its founding leaders, Prof. Aurora โOyieโ Javate de Dios, who is featured by the Embassy of France to the Philippines and Micronesia as part of their Womenโs Month series highlighting women advancing gender equality.

Dearest diplomats, the Department of Political Science, the University Gender and Development Office (UGDO) of Ateneo de Manila University, and the Ateneo Project for Asian and International Relations (APAIR), in cooperation with the Women Studies Association of the Philippines (WSAP), cordially invite you to the 2026 iteration of Discourse & Dialogue and Women Watch with the theme โWomenโs Leadership in Diplomacyโ on the 18th of March 2026โจ๐
Advancing the support for women and girls comes in various forms. The International Womenโs Day (IWD) 2026 theme entitled โGive to Gainโ invites the world to practice generosity and collaboration in pursuit of gender equality. Part of this power involves the recognition of womenโs leadership and celebrating their successes to contribute to breaking gender stereotypes and discrimination.
Diplomacy is one crucial field traditionally dominated and reserved for menโbut times have changed, and womenโs interest and participation in this field have grown over the years. Despite this change, issues of underrepresentation and exclusion still dwell and persist.
Beyond the challenges, however, are opportunities to promote gender equality with the efforts of women diplomats to campaign for relevant instruments such as the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda and legislation on issues of Violence against Women and Children (VAWC). Magnifying womenโs roles as diplomats through their experiences will serve to empower women and young, aspiring leaders for tomorrow.
Date & Time: March 18, 2026 (Wed) | 1:00-3:30 PM
Venue: Leong Hall Auditorium, Ateneo de Manila University
Participants: Bachelor of Arts in Diplomacy and International Relations Students

Despite the unexpected challenges across the Philippinesโincluding flooding, earthquakes, and the disruptions that came with themโour community came together with resilience and commitment. What was originally planned as a three-day gathering became a restructured yet deeply meaningful two-day conference, grounded in solidarity and shared purpose.
To all participants, presenters, and WSAP members who traveled, adjusted, and stayed engaged: thank you. Your presence and passion made the conference not only possibleโbut powerful.
To the University of the Philippines Cebu, our generous host: thank you for welcoming us with warmth, hospitality, and unwavering support throughout the event. Your partnership made UP Cebu a home for feminist dialogue, learning, and collaboration.
To our dedicated WSAP volunteersโworking tirelessly behind the scenes, coordinating sessions, assisting guests, and ensuring the smooth flow of every momentโwe extend our deepest gratitude. This conference happened because of your commitment and heart.
Together, we reimagined gender, strengthened community, and carried forward the work of transformation.
