RST Officially Opens Academic Year 2026-2027 | Mass of the Holy Spirit, School Orientation

The Recoletos School of Theology (RST) formally welcomed its students for Academic Year 2026–2027 through Orientation Day 2026, held on 14 August 2026 at Our Lady of Consolation Parish, Mira-Nila Homes, Quezon City.

The School welcomes 78 students this academic year, marking an increase of 26 students from the previous year and reflecting the continued growth of the RST community and its mission of theological formation for the service of the Church.

The day began with a Seminar on the Safeguarding of Minors and Vulnerable Adults, facilitated by Rev. Fr. John Era, CM, which provided the students with essential formation on safeguarding and the Church’s responsibility to protect minors and vulnerable adults.

The Highlight of the Day: The Mass of the Holy Spirit

The highlight of Orientation Day was the Mass of the Holy Spirit, presided over by Very Rev. Fr. Bernard Amparado, OAR, Prior Provincial of the Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno, Order of Augustinian Recollects.

The Eucharistic celebration marked the formal beginning of the new academic year and invoked the guidance, wisdom, and gifts of the Holy Spirit upon the entire RST community. It also included the Profession of Faith (Professio Fidei) of the RST Teachers and the Oath-Taking of the RST Student Forum (RSF) Officers, affirming their respective commitments to the mission of the School and the service of the academic community.

Following the Mass, the newly renovated school facilities were blessed, marking another milestone in the continuing development of the institution and its commitment to providing an environment conducive to theological study, formation, and ecclesial service.

The afternoon continued with the School Orientation, covering the General Statutes of the Recoletos School of Theology, academic records, financial matters, and library resources, including EBSCO and ProQuest.

As Academic Year 2026–2027 begins, the Recoletos School of Theology entrusts its growing community of 78 students, faculty, administrators, and formators to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, continuing its mission of forming persons in Caritas, Scientia et Sapientia—charity, knowledge, and wisdom.

Classes for Academic Year 2026–2027 have officially begun at the Recoletos School of Theology.

Despite the heavy rain, priest and seminarian students gathered near the students’ lounge for the flag ceremony, singing the first RST hymn of this year together—including many new faces beginning their intellectual formation.

After the ceremony, Rev. Fr. Ian Anthony Espartero, OAR, PhD, School Director, and Rev. Fr. Lounal Jarumay, OAR, DThPatSci, School Secretary, gave a warm and lively welcome to the students.

A simple but meaningful start to the new academic year. Welcome everyone!
