I am truly grateful to Dr. Jerson Catoto, LPT, my dedicated and brilliant former professor during my college years, for inviting me to be a resource speaker. From being his student to now having the opportunity to collaborate with him, this is truly a meaningful experience for me.

Tantrum or meltdown? 🤔

Magkaiba sila.

Tantrum is usually goal-directed. Halimbawa, umiiyak ang bata dahil gusto niya ng toy.

Meltdown naman is an intense response kapag overwhelmed na ang bata, tulad ng dahil sa sensory overload, stress, or frustration.

Hindi kailangang pilitin ang eye contact.

For some autistic children, eye contact can feel uncomfortable or distracting.

Instead of saying “Tumingin ka sa akin,” focus on whether the child is listening, understanding, and engaging in the interaction.

Ang Down syndrome ay isang genetic condition caused by having an extra copy of chromosome 21.

Hindi ito sakit na “nakakahawa,” at iba-iba ang strengths at support needs ng bawat taong may Down syndrome.

With the right support and opportunities, they can learn, develop skills, and participate meaningfully in the community.
