HIV CASES SA PILIPINAS, TUMAAS NG 500%; DOH, NANAWAGAN NA MAGDEKLARA NG NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY
Umakyat ng 500% ang bilang ng mga kaso ng HIV sa mga kabataang Pilipino na nasa edad 15 hanggang 25 mula January hanggang March 2025. Dahil dito, nanawagan ang Department of Health o DOH sa pamahalaan na ideklara ang HIV bilang isang National Public Health Emergency.
Ayon sa DOH, umaabot na sa 57 ang naitatalang bagong kaso ng HIV kada araw sa unang tatlong buwan ng taon. Isa sa pinakabatang kaso ay isang 12-taong-gulang na bata mula sa Palawan.
Sinabi rin ng DOH na mas malala na ang banta ng HIV kaysa sa Mpox sa Pilipinas.

Noong MAYO 2023, 48 na indibidwal ang naitala na nagkaroon ng HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) ayon sa HIV/AIDS & ART Registry of the Philippines (HARP) at sumama sa kabuuang bilang na (116,504) sa naiulat na mga kaso mula noong Enero 1984.
Base sa larawan na makikita sa ibaba, sa bagong kaso (1,256) na naiulat noong MAYO 2023, ang 94% (1,186) ay mga lalaki samantalang 6% (70) ay babae ang na iulat na nagkaroon ng HIV.
Base sa datos naiulat, 98% (1,215) dito ay nahawahan sa pamamagitan ng pakikipagtalik. Dagdag pa rito, ang 1% (20) walang data sa MOT (Mode of Transmission) sa oras ng pag-uulat.
Makikita rin sa larawan na ang edad mula dalawampu't lima hanggang tatlumpu't apat (25-34) na taong gulang ang mayroong pinakamataas na kaso na may 47% (581) habang ang edad labing lima (
