โ€ŽToday, Sauyo High School proudly stands in support of National Campus Press Freedom Day, a celebration that honors fearless campus journalists who refuse to let the flame of truth be dimmed. With every story they tell, they kindle hope, challenge silence, and illuminate reality.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽFreedom is more than just a word for campus journalists. It is the torch that lights their path, empowering them to write with courage, uphold transparency, demand accountability, and inspire progress far beyond the classroom.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThrough this celebration, may every pen continue to burn with purpose, and may every story blaze with verity.

โ€ŽHi-Blaze grasped their blazing pens until the end as they triumphed at the 2nd District VI Campus Journalism Olympiad, held on July 18, 2026, at Ismael Mathay Sr. High School. Throughout this day-long event, each of these victorious flames was able to shed light on the voiceless across various categories, competing against 916 participants from schools across District VI.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThese victories were steered by Ma'am Joren Vi DG. Ysmael, the Hi-Blaze School Paper Adviser, Ma'am Ma. Emma M. Casulla, Master Teacher I, Ma'am Maria Olga T. Rufo, Master Teacher II & Head Teacher Designate of the English Department, and our dear School Head, Dr. Merygee L. Javier. Through their guidance, our young scribes were able to walk the stage with their noteworthy accomplishments.

On National Campus Press Freedom Day, we honor the principles that define responsible journalismโ€”truth, freedom, and accountability.

A free campus press empowers student journalists to stand firm in these principles. When press freedom is upheld, the pursuit of truth continues without unjust interference.

Happy Birthday, Ma'am Joren!
โ€Ž
โ€ŽBefore this special day comes to an end, we'd like to pour our hearts into creating this simple message.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThroughout the years where you've been leading blazing pens toward victory, we've witnessed your utmost dedication, not just as our school paper adviser, but as the match itselfโ€”able to ignite hesitant minds and trembling hands into creating articles worth the attention of many. That mere passion is what drives us to continue thriving into better journalists.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽWe would like to thank you for your neverending patience towards our stubborn hearts. The stubbornness may always trail behind your shadow like a little chick, but you'd always find a way to lead it on the right pathโ€”just as how you'd critique our works and would always leave room for our improvement.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽAbove all, if there's one thing we're certain of, it is that Hi-Blaze is fortunate to have someone like you leading us.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽOnce more, we wish you the happiest birthday, Ma'am Joren!
โ€Ž
โ€ŽLove,
Hi-Blaze.

As the Hi-Blaze School Year 2025โ€“2026 comes to an end, Journalism 10 students capture the fleeting moments that made the journey unforgettable. Laughter in between deadlines, behind-the-scenes memories, and the simple joys of being together โ€” these are the stories that stay.

Not just the headlines, but the moments in between โ€” the ones weโ€™ll carry long after the final page.

Today, May 3, 2026, we mark World Press Freedom Dayโ€”a reminder that press freedom is more than reporting; it is the courage to speak truth, even when itโ€™s inconvenient or dangerous.

History shows us how powerfulโ€”and how vulnerableโ€”press freedom can be. From landmark moments that reshaped investigative journalism to periods in different parts of the world when media freedom was heavily restricted, and global milestones in the ongoing fight for free expression, the pursuit of truth has never been simple or safe.

As we mark World Press Freedom Day, may we continue to value honesty, fairness, and responsibility in every story we share. In protecting press freedom, we protect the peopleโ€™s right to know.

Because a society that stays silent about whatโ€™s suppressed is a society that slowly forgets what truth sounds likeโ€”and what democracy stands for.

In her speech, she encouraged her fellow completers not to be afraid of endings that donโ€™t quite feel final. Instead, she encouraged them to welcome uncertaintyโ€”allowing themselves and their experiences to remain โ€œunfinished,โ€ and to move forward with courage rather than chasing perfection.

She shared that leaving Sauyo High School isnโ€™t about leaving who they are behindโ€”itโ€™s simply turning a page, not closing the story. Through this, she inspired Batch 2026 to step into the future bravely, holding onto the lessons and memories theyโ€™ve gained.

A quiet kind of pride fills today, one built from effort, patience, and all the small moments that led here. Each recognition is more than an award; itโ€™s a reflection of the work you chose to show up for, even when no one was looking.

Carry this with you, not just as an achievement, but as a reminder of what youโ€™re capable of.

Congratulations, young journalists!
