Today, May 3, 2026, we mark World Press Freedom Dayโa reminder that press freedom is more than reporting; it is the courage to speak truth, even when itโs inconvenient or dangerous.
History shows us how powerfulโand how vulnerableโpress freedom can be. From landmark moments that reshaped investigative journalism to periods in different parts of the world when media freedom was heavily restricted, and global milestones in the ongoing fight for free expression, the pursuit of truth has never been simple or safe.
As we mark World Press Freedom Day, may we continue to value honesty, fairness, and responsibility in every story we share. In protecting press freedom, we protect the peopleโs right to know.
Because a society that stays silent about whatโs suppressed is a society that slowly forgets what truth sounds likeโand what democracy stands for.

๐ ๐ข๐ฉ๐๐ก๐ ๐จ๐ฃ ๐ฆ๐ฃ๐๐๐๐ | Janessa Althea P. Gacias, a student with highest honors from 10-Einstein and the Editor-in-Chief of Hi-Blaze, delivered an inspiring message during the 11th Moving Up Ceremony of Sauyo High School on March 27, 2026.
In her speech, she encouraged her fellow completers not to be afraid of endings that donโt quite feel final. Instead, she encouraged them to welcome uncertaintyโallowing themselves and their experiences to remain โunfinished,โ and to move forward with courage rather than chasing perfection.
She shared that leaving Sauyo High School isnโt about leaving who they are behindโitโs simply turning a page, not closing the story. Through this, she inspired Batch 2026 to step into the future bravely, holding onto the lessons and memories theyโve gained.

๐ช๐๐ฌ ๐ง๐ข ๐๐ข, ๐๐ข๐จ๐ฅ๐ก๐ข๐ฆ!
A quiet kind of pride fills today, one built from effort, patience, and all the small moments that led here. Each recognition is more than an award; itโs a reflection of the work you chose to show up for, even when no one was looking.
Carry this with you, not just as an achievement, but as a reminder of what youโre capable of.
Congratulations, young journalists!
