NATCCO Gender & Development is an advocacy unit under the Cooperative Academy of NATCCO Network (CANN).

Our goal is to promote gender equality in the cooperative sector not just as a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. We also aim to empower people of any gender through entrepreneurship - address current gender gaps and imbalances in entrepreneurial skills, access to networks, capital, and business development services.

On December 12, we joined the NATCCO Disability Inclusion and Wellness Advancement (DIWA ng Pasko) celebration at GK Village, Project 4, Quezon City. As part of the program, our team was invited to share a short but meaningful session on family valuesโ€”a timely reminder of what truly matters this Christmas season.

During the activity, we also opened conversations on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), helping families recognize the importance of creating safe and nurturing homes. To deepen the discussion, we shared a story (Mahal ko ang Aking Katawan) about loving oneโ€™s own body and the importance of consent, especially for children and young people.

It was a simple gathering, but filled with genuine learning, connection, and hopeโ€”reflecting the real spirit of Christmas: care, inclusion, and compassion for every family.

Today, we highlight our VAWC-Free Cooperative Community Commitment Boardโ€”now filled with the heartfelt pledges of NATCCO employees and members who visited the NATCCO Head Office throughout the campaign.

Each message represents a personal promise: to speak up, to protect, to show compassion, to challenge harmful behaviors, and to help create spaces where women and children feel safe and valued. These commitments remind us that ending VAWC is not just an organizational programโ€”it is a shared responsibility carried by every individual in our cooperative community.

Every signature, every note, and every pledge on this board is a step toward a future where respect is upheld, voices are heard, and violence has no place.

Let us continue turning these commitments into daily action, ensuring that our cooperative remains a champion of safety, dignity, and equality. ๐Ÿ’œโœจ

Through this training, young participants learned to break stereotypes, challenge biases, and build awareness to prevent discrimination and violence against women. When the youth understand the impact of their words, choices, and actions, they become powerful advocates for changeโ€”creating safer spaces for women, girls, and every individual in their community.

Let us continue raising a generation that stands firm against violence, chooses respect, and speaks up for what is right.
Together, we move toward a society where dignity is protected, voices are heard, and equality is lived every day. ๐Ÿ’œโœจ

For Day 15 of our 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, we highlight the VAWC Awareness Seminar conducted by Oro Integrated Cooperative last December 6, 2025, at their Valencia Branch.

Through this initiative, members gained deeper understanding of the Anti-VAWC Law, the different forms of abuse, and the ways communities can support survivors and prevent violence. By investing in continuous learning, Oro Integrated Cooperative reinforces its commitment to fostering safe, informed, and gender-responsive spaces for all its members.

We applaud their dedication to advocacy and protectionโ€”and encourage more cooperatives to take active steps toward building VAW-free communities. ๐Ÿ’œโœจ

Today, we invite everyone to take a moment to challenge yourself with our Red Flag Quiz, featuring 10 real-life situational scenarios where you determine whether each action is a red flag or a green flag.

Recognizing subtle warning signs is essential in preventing violence and understanding unhealthy behaviors before they escalate. This quiz helps strengthen our awareness and equips us to better support others, build boundaries, and foster a culture of respect within our communities. ๐Ÿ’œ

As part of our advocacy efforts, we are also sharing this quiz with our primary cooperatives so they can replicate it and encourage their members to participate. Together, letโ€™s build a more informed and empowered cooperative sectorโ€”one quiz, one insight, one action at a time.

For Day 13 of our 18-Day Campaign to End VAWC, we are featuring the VAWC Infographics showcased in our Anti-VAWC Exhibitโ€”visual materials designed to transform data, law, and advocacy into clear and accessible knowledge.

These infographics present key statistics on violence against women and children, the different forms of abuse, and the emotional, physical, and economic impacts survivors face. They also shed light on why VAWC persists and offer practical guidance on what each of us can do: report safely, listen with empathy, speak up when we witness harm, and uphold organizational policies that protect our community.

By bringing these materials to the forefront, we aim to spark awareness, strengthen understanding, and empower individuals to recognize red flags and take action. Knowledge is protection, and awareness is prevention. Together, we move closer to building a workplace and community rooted in respect, compassion, and accountability. ๐Ÿ’œโœจ

One of the most captivating moments during the NATCCO 18-Day Campaign launch last November 17 was the live painting session, guided and inspired by Ms. Shannen Mercado, Diaspora and Climate Action Specialist.

With the theme โ€œPainting Your Inner Strength,โ€ the activity encouraged participants to explore their emotions and translate resilience, courage, and healing onto canvas. Under Ms. Mercadoโ€™s gentle facilitation, the session became more than an art activityโ€”it became a meaningful space where creativity met advocacy.

Art has long been a powerful tool for healing. It allows us to process experiences, reclaim our stories, and express strength beyond words. Through this session, we were reminded that healing is not linear, and that even in the quiet strokes of a brush, we can find hope, connection, and empowerment.

As we continue the 18-Day Campaign to End VAWC, we honor advocates like Ms. Shannen Mercado, who use their voice and craft to uplift survivors and strengthen communities.

Let us keep creating, expressing, and standing together for healing and justice. ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŽจโœจ
