Noong bata pa ang kompositor na si Alberto Florentino, may kapitbahay ito na magkasintahan, ito ang naging inspirasyon ng kantang "Leron, Leron, Sinta".

si Lorencio o Leron ay 'Tao', minsan silang pumunta sa isang puno ng papaya malapit sa bahay ng kumpositor, gusto ni Genoveva o ni Neneng ang hilaw na bunga ng papaya para sa kanyang tinola, nang nagpatulong ito para kumuha ng papaya kay Leron, nabali ang malambot na sanga at nahulog si Leron, tila minalas sila sa araw na iyon, dahil nasaktan ito nang bahagya.

Isang araw, naisipian ni Leron na magluto ng sinampalukang-manok kaya pumunta ito sa bahay ni Neneng upang magpasamang manguha ng sampalok, dahil magaan lang si Neneng siya na ang umakyat ng puno habang sumabay na nagpagewang-gewang ang sanga nito dahil sa lakas ng hangin. At sa pagkakataong iyon, nagtagumpay silang makasungkit at makapag-uwi ng sampalok na nilagay nila sa buslo.

Hanggang sa ang mga pangyayaring ito ay pinagtibay ang magkasintahan, iniyayabang ni Leron na wala na s'yang hahanapin pang iba kung s'ya ang pakakasalan nito dahil kaya s'ya nitong ipagtanggol habang-buhay, hinahalintulad n'ya ang kanyang sarili bilang Tabak at Baril na magtatanggol sa kanya sa oras ng pangangailangan.

At sa dulo, kinasal nga ang dalawa at naging masaya sila't nagkapamilya, sinuklian ni Neneng ang kabutihan ni Leron at palagian s'yang hinahandaan ng paborito nitong pansit, sinong mag-aakala na ang dati nilang mga dula-dulaan o bahay-bahayan mula pagkabata ay magiging totoo.

1961, unang kinagiliwan ang kantang bahay-kubo na sinulat ng ating National Artist for Music na si Felipe de Leon, kinanta ito si Sylvia La Torre na itinuro sa eskwela mula noon.

Ang Kamatis ay kinukunsidira bilang isang prutas dahil nagiging bunga ito mula sa bulaklak na karakter para maging prutas, ang kamatis ay nasa kwalipikasyon bilang berries, pero kung ang mga nutritionist ang tatanungin para sa kanila ito ay gulay, dahilan para maisama ni de Leon ang kamatis sa pambatang-kantang ito.

85% ng mga taong nakabisado ang kantang ito mula pagkabata, ay hindi alam ang aktwal na itsura ng sigarilyas, kundol, mustasa, lalong-lalo na ang linga.

Samantalang 90% ay hindi alam ang pormal English ng mga gulay na ito. Magkagayunman, isa ito sa pinakatumatak na awiting Filipino na ating kinamulatan at patuloy na nagiging bahagi ng ating bawat kasaysayan.

Ang mga nabanggit na gulay ni de Loen ay ang mga gulay mayroong ang kanilang hardin o bakuran sa Nueva Ecija. May okra, malunggay at pipino ang mga de Leon ngunit hindi bumagay sa kanta na nangangailangan ng mag-singtunog sa mga huling letra o pagkakasunod na may ritmong mayroon ang mga nasamang gulay.

Commenting on other people's physical appearances- good or bad- especially after not seeing them for a long time is part of Filipino greeting culture. And though the comments are not meant to be offensive or insulting, some may come across as blatant body shaming.

No matter how friendly Filipinos are known for, no culture comes without societal flaws.

So if ever someone tells you "Tumaba ka, ah!" and you feel that your excitement for seeing that person instantly fades, just answer "T*ng*n*m*!"

The structure words that chiefly glue together the content words in Tagalog sentences are the MARKERS. They are the heart of Tagalog sentences. 🧡 (And they drive the learners crazy. 🤪😁)

There are three groups of markers, each with different forms and functions: ANG, SA and NG.

They are fairly easy to understand, but the real challenge for many students is memorizing the forms in each group (especially the pronouns and especially when I just give them ONE WEEK to memorize the markers 🤯😁). It just seems difficult to do so, but once you understand how they are used and actually try to use them in contexts, it's actually easy. And if you can get past this lesson, you can already survive in a Tagalog-speaking environment. 🥳
