We win some, and we lose some.
The past few months have brought me into casting opportunities for some pretty big names, including amazing auditions for projects overseas.
I swear, never in my whole life did I think I’d even be considered for roles outside the country, let alone an iconic one. That’s just wild.
And this is where my somewhat “Asian-accent-free” English comes in handy. I can audition for roles that may be harder for actors from Southeast Asia to play because of stronger regional accents.
Of course, I’ve also been rejected by several very big projects.
Waiting weeks for a casting result, only to eventually be filtered out, maybe because of my height, age, or simply because I wasn’t the right fit, is part of the process. And I’ve learned to accept that.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed. I’ve taken some of those rejections to heart, but never to the point where they broke me.
Because every casting video I’ve made, every audition I’ve gone through, and every rejection I’ve received is still one step closer to whatever brighter future is waiting for me.
