𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐎𝐋𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬, 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐈 𝐔𝐬𝐞

Students of Our Lady of the Angels Seminary–College, Inc. (OLAS-College) gathered at College Rooms 1–2 on July 6 for the inaugural SalikSulat: Academic Writing Workshop, led by Dr. Ronel Dela Cruz, an OLAS alumnus and Thesis Writing professor.

During the workshop, Dr. Dela Cruz discussed the fundamentals of academic writing, with particular emphasis on research in philosophy and theology. He also guided the participants through the latest edition of the Chicago/Turabian citation style, the official documentation format adopted by OLAS-College for academic papers.

Beyond technical writing skills, Dr. Dela Cruz underscored the importance of academic integrity in the age of artificial intelligence. Drawing insights from Pope Leo XIV's latest encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, he emphasized that educational institutions should establish clear policies on the ethical use of AI in academic work to promote responsible scholarship.

“AI is a tool, but it should not remove our capacity to analyze and discern - our humanity,” Dr. Dela Cruz emphasized.

To further strengthen students' research capabilities, Dr. Dela Cruz introduced reference management software, Zotero and Mendeley, demonstrating how these platforms help organize research materials, manage citations, and generate bibliographies efficiently.

SalikSulat, a flagship academic initiative of the OLAS-College Student Council, is one of the council's major conferences for this academic year. The program aims to enhance students' research and writing competencies while fostering academic excellence and responsible scholarship within the OLAS community.

The Our Lady of the Angels Seminary–College Student Council, through its Commission on Sociocultural Affairs, officially inaugurated its first project with the installation of the Philippine National Flag in front of the OLAS-College Building during the flag-raising ceremony on July 6, 2026.

The initiative symbolizes the council's commitment to promoting patriotism and civic responsibility within the academic community. It also reflects the Franciscan values of love for one's country and service to the people, especially those belonging to marginalized and underserved sectors of society.

In a solemn and meaningful celebration, OLAS-College, Inc. held its First Friday Mass on July 3, 2026, at the Portiuncula Chapel. Following the Eucharistic celebration, the new set of officers of the OLAS-College Student Council (OLAS-CSC) for Academic Year 2026–2027 formally took their oath of office.

The induction ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter of student leadership, as the newly elected officers committed themselves to serving the OLASian community with dedication and responsibility.

The celebration will also include the Induction of the OLAS-College Student Council Officers for the Academic Year 2026–2027.

The OLAS-College Student Council officially welcomed students to the new academic year through the TUK-OLAS: Academic Orientation and Welcome Program held at the Eugene Cornock Memorial Auditorium on June 29.

Students from the AB Philosophy and AB Theology programs, especially the freshmen, were introduced to the different offices and services of the institution. The Student Council also presented its General Plans and Activities, outlining the programs and initiatives prepared for the academic year.

Following the orientation, the students proceeded to the Portiuncula Chapel, where they offered flowers to Our Lady of the Angels as a gesture of prayer and thanksgiving, marking the beginning of their academic journey at OLAS.
