𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐃 (𝐞.𝐠., 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞, 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐃, 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐃) 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐝. You will not be allowed to take the exam if you do not bring your passport on the test day.

Starting April 2026, a passport will also be required when booking your exam.
For examinees in Japan, your residence card will still be required if you have one.

⇒ About the JFT-Basic:
The JFT-Basic (The Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese) seeks to measure the level of Japanese language proficiency needed by foreign nationals about to reside in Japan mainly for work, to communicate in everyday life situations.
It is also used as a test to measure the level of Japanese language proficiency needed to obtain the residency status of “Specified Skilled Worker (i)”.
