My eldest is back to her ODL (Online Distance Learning) about a week now. I cannot help but share this story about one of my most fave teachers back in college.

Her words are still stuck in my head as I try to teach & mentor my kids and the community at Work-from-home Squad.

These words from my teacher modeled more honest intellectual discourse. You don't have to pretend like you know everything & you don't always need to have or share an immediate opinion.

Even in my seven years of working from home, I still learn something new every single day and learning should stop too.

Your client will teach you too and you will teach your client but if ever you get into a situation when a client asked for certain information or some tasks done that you are not familiar with, gracefully share these words. Honesty is the best policy and you'd be surprised how things turn out positively by being so.

Quotes like this amaze me because it can be a common-sense thing for most of us but would you believe that this is the most committed mistake of most business owners, team leaders, project managers, and even presidents of a country!

Simon's quotes and wisdom full of sayings lead us to 'start with our why's in life. He sets the path for clear vision, self-awareness, moral compass, and our true north. These are our 'first principles' and should be.

You may be newbies today but the time will come that your clients will ask you to lead the team or a project. Be the Confident Leader and not the Arrogant one. That's what will give you better success and that's what will keep people following you.

Join the squad and be a more confident leader and prepare to be one.

You must be wondering how I handled these two clients?

They both receive quality service and I even go beyond my scope of work sometimes. Whenever I do get directly hired by a client, the "Scope of Work" clause will always be there. Anything that goes beyond that will mean additional charges.

But you see, when you try to 'push back' because your stand is that a certain task could have been avoided or was deemed unnecessary if certain processes or actions were taken, some clients will take it negatively instead of putting things in perspective. So that's what happened in Client B.

With Client A, I haven't experienced any such issue so far, and actually, we do get into disagreements and I do sometimes make mistakes on my tasks but if I know it's my fault, I do apologize and I humbly work towards correcting it. These are the type of clients you would want to work with even if you go into disagreements, they would still treat you as their equals and as human beings who have feelings.

I can only accept certain negative feedback but if the feedback already is too LOW BALL then I am not to bring myself to the client's level and in no way I would accept such derogatory or demeaning remarks. I am not being proud here, I am just doing what I know is right as a human being.

I am so against discrimination. I get paid by other clients as if their native VA's are my equals. If they pay their VA's $13 or $20 per hour that's also what I get. That's the client you should be chasing after too and not the client who will give you a rate as if you don't bring value to their business.
