Thursday of the Lord's Supper (Maundy Thursday)
Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday is the day during Holy Week that commemorates the Washing of the Feet and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles, as described in the canonical gospels.
Today we also observe washing their feet. Which should consist of a group of men and women from different sectors of the society. It traditionally consists of 12 people but no exact number as instructed.
After the celebrations, the Blessed Sacrament is allowed to be exposed neither in a monstrance nor a ciborium. It is then transferred to the altar of repose. The altar then would be stripped off after the celebrations.
Prayer: Father, for your glory and our salvation you appointed Jesus Christ eternal High Priest. May the people he gained for you by his blood come to share in the power of his cross and resurrection by celebrating his memorial in this Eucharist, for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, God, forever. Amen.
