In commemoration of the 27th death anniversary of National Artist Lucrecia Urtula.
Lucrecia Reyes-Urtula, choreographer, dance educator, and researcher, devoted nearly four decades to the study and celebration of Philippine folk and ethnic dances. Her findings were transformed into a vibrant reinterpretation of an ethnic dance culture that goes beyond simple preservation, welcoming creative evolution.
For over thirty years, she developed suites of mountain dances, performances influenced by Spanish traditions, Muslim pageants and festivals, along with regional variations and rural dances for the Bayanihan Philippine Dance Company, where she held the position of dance director. These creations have received widespread acclaim and enthusiastic responses from audiences during their international tours across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa.
