The recently concluded Reading Camp gathered 31 enthusiastic learners, all eager to explore, learn, and enjoy a meaningful adventure through reading. Throughout the camp, participants took part in a variety of exciting literacy-centered activities designed to spark creativity, boost comprehension, and strengthen their love for reading. The camp kicked off with an inspiring Book Talk: Why Reading is Cool? where learners shared insights, favorite reads, and personal reasons why books continue to shape their minds and imagination. Laughter and teamwork filled the night during the lively Charades Night, testing their quick thinking and creativity.

One of the camp’s highlights was the Story Writing Competition, where learners showcased their talent in crafting original stories—each piece reflecting their imagination and growing confidence as young writers. They also engaged in the Peer-Reading Comprehension Check, helping and guiding one another as they strengthened understanding through collaborative reading. The Story Map Activity further encouraged them to break down story elements, improving their analytical thinking in a fun and interactive way.

Our learners shone in the Oral and Story Reading Competitions, showcasing courage, creativity, and heart. The oral reading featured a powerful piece on corruption in the Philippines, while the story reading highlighted resilience and hope after Typhoon Tino.

With guidance from Sir Bernie C. Arcegono, Ma’am Marife D. Lobigas, and Ma’am Janice J. Jamon, every participant grew in confidence, proving that reading not only sharpens skills but also inspires change and unity.

“Through every word and every story, our voices rise.”
