The 3rd Flag Raising Ceremony of West Visayas State University Pototan Campus was held at 7:30 AM in front of the Gabaldon Building hosted by the School of Information and Communications Technology. This formal gathering brought together faculty, staff and students in a shared observance of patriotism and institutional commitment. The ceremony was hosted by Mr. Jason Pasquin Jr. and Ms.Shane Angela Abella.
The program began with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem led by Shine Angel Capaducio, followed by a prayer delivered by Rose Ann Levera, and the Panatang Makabayan led by Marvin Pascua. The Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas was delivered by Edzelle Canag, while the Panata sa Bagong Pilipinas was led by Shamira Cassei Herida. Recorded renditions of the Bagong Pilipinas Hymn, the WVSU Hymn, and the Pototan Hymn were subsequently played.
The Panunumpa ng Kawani ng Gobyerno was administered by Dr. Raymund B. Gemora, Campus Administrator, who underscored the importance of accountability and dedication in public service. The series of pledges concluded with the recitation of the WVSU Quality Policy, led by Dr. Mar John Noel F. Acanto, Quality Assurance Coordinator.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Ma. Elena Grace A. Parcon, Director, School of ICT, formally welcomed the attendees and emphasizing optimism, determination, and excellence. In honor of World Teachers' Day, she greeted the faculty, recognizing educators as true partners in learning. She advised students to respect their teachers, follow their guidance, and handle academic concerns professionally. Furthermore, she encouraged students to study with purpose and strive for excellence as a meaningful way to show gratitude to their mentors. furthermore, Dr. Parcon shared several upcoming October ICT activities, including a Disaster Risk Reduction event on October 7, a BSIS ICT seminar in the afternoon, and the final thesis orientation scheduled from October 12 to 16.
Dr. Raymund B. Gemora, Campus Administrator, delivered a meaningful message in celebration of World Teachersโ Day, underscoring 60 years of protecting the teaching profession. He emphasized that teachers impart knowledge not only with their minds but also with their hearts, offering encouragement alongside instruction. He highlighted the importance of embracing technology and artificial intelligence as valuable tools, while affirming that these innovations can never replace the wisdom and guidance of human educators.
Dr. Gemora concluded by urging the academic community to continue pursuing excellence, to stand firmly for the teaching profession. Furthermore, he acknowledged the hard work and achievements of all athletes, coaches and facilitators during the University Hinampang 2026 at WVSU Lambunao Campus.
Mrs. April Ann Rose L. Alogon, Head Medical Dental Unit, delivered a short talk in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, she reminded the academic community of the importance of early detection and regular check ups. She emphasized that awareness and prevention are powerful tools in protecting oneโs health. Her message also encouraged compassion and support, urging everyone to stand together in promoting wellness..
For campus announcements, Dr. Nove D. Jalandoni, Director for Academic Affairs, she announce that the faculty evaluation in IUIS will run from today until December 17 for Academic Year 2026โ2027. And a preliminary visit for BSED Social Studies is scheduled on October 12โ16 as part of the AACCUP Accreditation, While October 9 will feature a Denim Theme in celebration of the Municipal Teachersโ Day.
The institution also announced the appointment of six classified personnel and 18 newly hired academic personnel for permanent positions. The announcement concluded with pledges of continued commitment to quality service and academic excellence assisted by Mr. Iver C. Panes, Administrative Officer IV (HRMO II) .
Subsequently, Mr. Harrace Gem A. Caver, Head of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), announced that the Campus Hinampang will be held on October 21โ22. He expressed his greatest appreciation to all who helped and participated during the University Hinampang 2026 at WVSU Lambunao Campus. His message highlighted unity, sportsmanship, and dedication as the spirit behind these activities. Furthermore,Ms. Lucelle M. Tayal, CSC Chairperson, assisted in awarding certificates and medals to athletes during UWEEK 2026. She gave special recognition to those who proudly represented the WVSU Pototan Campus at the Lambunao Campus during the event.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks delivered by Ms. Kimberly Dosado, Adviser of OICTS,she warmly welcomed all newly hired academic personnel and recognized their role in strengthening the institution.
