WVSU Pototan convened its 13th Campus Administrative Council (ADCO) Meeting on August 18, 2026, 3:00 PM, at the Campus Administrator’s Conference Room, bringing together administrative officers, school directors, and unit heads to strengthen campus operations and set strategic directions for Academic Year 2026–2027.

Presided over by Campus Administrator Dr. Raymund B. Gemora, the meeting focused on key administrative policies, financial initiatives, academic priorities, personnel management, student support, and campus development, with emphasis on aligning campus operations with university-wide standards and ensuring efficient and responsive delivery of services.

A significant agenda item was the council’s approval endorsing the proposed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with LandBank, presented by Ms. Angellie E. Adorio, Accountant II. The partnership is expected to provide faculty and staff with access to favorable institutional loan interest rates. WVSU Pototan is currently the only satellite campus in the WVSU system yet to establish employees' payroll integration with LandBank. The approval of the proposal was formally moved by HRMO II and Administrative Officer IV Mr. Iver C. Panes and seconded by SOIT Director Dr. Pablo L. Lauro.

To ensure uninterrupted instruction across programs, the council also discussed faculty hiring and workload management. With 25 new plantilla items soon to be filled as reported across schools, Dr. Gemora directed the HRMO and concerned office heads to expedite the processing of permanent faculty hiring as well as part-time faculty appointments, anticipate future staffing requirements, and ensure strict compliance with approved class schedules and teaching assignments. Transition arrangements for campus resource generation project were likewise addressed, including the proposed formal inventory and turnover of the RGU catering enterprise to incoming project personnel.

Academic excellence and student support remained central to the council’s discussions. SOED Director Dr. Marlene S. Gloria presented updates on final coaching activities, motivational sessions, and review engagements designed to strengthen the preparedness of the campus takers for the forthcoming Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT).

The council likewise adopted policy directions concerning campus activities, educational tours, and environmental sustainability. Co-curricular activities were reviewed and streamlined to protect instructional time, while key first-semester activities and deadlines were confirmed, including the Terminal Competency Assessment on August 20, Welcome Fest on September 3, University Curriculum Review deadline on October 8, and Pototan Campus Days with LitMus 2026 on October 21–22.

For educational tours and other off-campus learning activities, the administration reiterated the need for strict compliance with procurement rules and prescribed bidding procedures to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper utilization of resources.

Meanwhile, Research, Innovation, and Extension (RIE) Director Dr. Raquel P. Pedrajas presented initiatives for the sustained maintenance of campus waste management facilities. These include the proposed “One Sack Per Student” to be used for waste segregation as part of the environmental initiative and a request for subsidy support from the Parents-Faculty Association (PFA) to reinforce campus-wide waste management efforts.

With a current enrollment of 2,301 students, WVSU Pototan Campus continues to strengthen its academic, administrative, and support systems while pursuing initiatives that advance institutional development and stakeholder welfare. The campus, represented by the School of Education, is likewise preparing for a meet-up engagement with delegates from Japan, who will visit the campus, further reinforcing its commitment to internationalization and global engagement.

Through the 13th ADCO Meeting, WVSU Pototan reaffirmed its commitment to strategic governance, operational efficiency, academic excellence, fiscal responsibility, and sustainable campus development—laying stronger foundations for a productive and responsive Academic Year 2026–2027. 🤷

To align campus operations with University quality standards and address identified administrative and academic concerns, officials and unit heads of West Visayas State University (WVSU) Pototan Campus convened for the 3rd Campus Top Management Review on August 18, 2026, 2:00 PM, at the Campus Administrator’s Conference Room.

Led by Campus Administrator Dr. Raymund B. Gemora, the review focused on the results of the 2026 Internal Quality Audit (IQA), presented by Internal Quality Lead Auditor Dr. Jeany Rose P. Ignacio. The audit highlighted several institutional strengths, including the campus’ proactive environmental sustainability initiatives, effective internal audit monitoring, accessible document management practices, alternative resource-generation strategies, and strong client engagement.

Beyond these commendations, management gave particular attention to identified areas for improvement. Discussions centered on curriculum-related concerns and the need to strengthen faculty portfolio monitoring and tracking, with inputs from Director for Academic Affairs Dr. Nove D. Jalandoni, Quality Assurance Coordinator Dr. Mar John Noel F. Acanto, SOIT Director Dr. Pablo L. Lauro, and Dr. Ignacio.

The review also addressed critical administrative and infrastructure concerns affecting campus operations, safety, and efficiency. Dr. Gemora, Administrative Officer V Mrs. Ma. Mercedes C. Sumagaysay, and Dr. Jalandoni discussed measures to secure the necessary building occupancy permits, address staffing gaps in the General Services Office (GSO), and institutionalize a formal equipment calibration schedule.

A minor non-conformance involving the School of Education (SOED), headed by Dr. Marlene S. Gloria, and the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), led by Mr. Harrace Gem A. Caver, was likewise deliberated. To ensure prompt, coordinated, and accountable action, management agreed to issue a single consolidated memorandum specifying the required corrective actions, thereby streamlining compliance and avoiding unnecessary documentation.

The review also benefited from the active participation and insights of key campus officials and personnel, including RIE Director Dr. Raquel P. Pedrajas; Administrative Officer V Mrs. Ma. Mercedes C. Sumagaysay; SOICT Director Dr. Ma. Elena Grace A. Parcon; SOBM Director Dr. Ruby P. Cervantes; Research, Innovation, and Development Head Dr. Rosie Jane P. The management review concluded with management reaffirming its commitment to evidence-based decision-making, timely corrective action, continual improvement, and the sustained implementation of the University’s quality management standards across all campus operations. 🤷

West Visayas State University Pototan Campus held its 16th interfaith worship service at exactly 7:30 AM today at the Audio Visual Room (AVR), where participants explored themes of faith, spiritual vision, and persistent prayer through a biblical account.

The interfaith service opened with heart felt songs of worship, inviting the Holy Spirit into the room and preparing every heart to receive God’s Word.

The gathering highlighted the story of Bartimaeus in Mark 10:46–52, focusing on the moment when the blind beggar sat by the roadside, recognizing his need for divine help and calling out persistently to Jesus despite the crowds trying to silence him.

Subsequently, Ptr, Phileo M. Bais, CPA he referenced key scriptures from the passage, including Mark 10:51, where Jesus asked him directly, “What do you want me to do for you?” Instead of asking for temporary relief or material wealth, Bartimaeus made a deliberate request for spiritual and physical clarity, declaring, “Rabboni, I want to see.” As recorded in Mark 10:52, Jesus responded, “Go, your faith has healed you,” and immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

The service concluded with a heartfelt prayer and a final message delivered by Senior Pastor Elmo Bais.

The interfaith event brought different faith together to remind everyone that real faith takes courage, humility, and persistence especially when seeking God's direction through life's tough times.

The West Visayas State University–Pototan Campus celebrated its 23rd Holy Eucharistic Mass on August 17, 2026, at 7:30 a.m. at Community Center I. The Mass was officiated by Rev. Fr. Ildefonso C. Cachuela, Jr., Parish Priest of Patronage of St. Joseph Parish, Binabaan Lambunao.

The Eucharist brought together the members of the university community in prayer, contemplation, and giving of thanks, which built up the spirit of faith and togetherness.

During his homily, Fr. Cachuela first reminded the university community of the importance of gratitude, saying:“𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙞𝙛𝙩, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙜𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙩.”The reminder emphasized the value of appreciating every blessing while remembering and being grateful to the people behind those blessings.

He further shared a message on the deeper meaning of excellence and success: “𝙏𝙧𝙪𝙚 𝙚𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙨; 𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙚𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚. After the Mass, there was a blessing done at the entire campus, praying for guidance and protection from God for the WVSU Pototan community and its environment.

In addition, there was a unique blessing made on behalf of those celebrating birthdays during the months of May, June, July, and August. This prayer and thanksgiving were made by the university community for their lives, asking that God may bless, guide, keep healthy, and prosper them.

The 23rd Holy Eucharist Mass became a time for the WVSU Pototan Campus community to gather in faith, gratitude, and unity, embracing the principles of service, excellence, and compassion.

West Visayas State University–Pototan Campus successfully conducted an Internal Quality Audit on its Top Management and Document Controller processes last August 5, 2026 from 8:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M.

This initiative formed part of the university’s continuing quality assurance program, with Inter-Campus Internal Quality Auditors evaluating compliance with established management standards and the effectiveness of document control systems.

The program formally opened with registration, the Philippine National Anthem, and an opening prayer. Dr. Raymund B. Gemora, Campus Administrator, delivered the opening remarks, setting the tone for the day’s activities. The audit proper was conducted in both morning and afternoon sessions, ensuring a thorough review of processes.

The event concluded with a closing meeting and final remarks. he event was hosted by Dr. Genalyn P. Giganto, who guided the proceedings throughout the program.

The West Visayas State University Pototan Campus gathered at the Community Center 1 at exactly 7:30 a.m. for its Flag Raising Ceremony to welcome Academic Year 2026–2027. Organized by the Campus Student Council (CSC), the program united students, faculty, and staff to build campus pride, teamwork, and excitement as the new school year officially began. The ceremony was hosted by Mr. John Jorazz Palabrica, CSC Councilor.

The program began with the Entrance of Colors led by the PAF-ROTC, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem led by Ms. Angeline P. Dalen, BSEd Representative, CSC. A prayer and the Panatang Makabayan were led by Ms. Anjelen L. Villegas, Vice Chairperson, CSC. The Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas was delivered by Ms. Merry Joy R. Banhaw, CSC Councilor, while the Panata sa Bagong Pilipinas was led by Ms. Krystal Joy C. Jolo, CSC Secretary. Recorded renditions of the Bagong Pilipinas Hymn, the WVSU Hymn, and the Pototan Hymn were subsequently played.

On behalf of Dr. Raymund B. Gemora Campus Administrator , Mrs. Ma. Mercedes Sumagaysay, Administrative Officer V led the Panunumpa ng Kawani ng Gobyerno. The series of pledges concluded with the recitation of the WVSU Quality Policy, led by Dr. Mar John Noel F. Acanto, Quality Assurance Coordinator.

The program also featured the presentation of CSC officers by Mr. Harrace Gem A. Caver, Head of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), discussed the responsibilities of the general student body and formally introduced the CSC officers. Mrs. Sumagaysay then administered the Oath of Office to the new student leaders.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Nove D. Jalandoni, Director for Academic Affairs, welcomed the entire university community to Academic Year 2026–2027. She emphasized the new term as a fresh start filled with opportunities to overcome challenges together. During her speech, she introduced the updated Vision, Mission, and Core Values of the campus, inspiring everyone to live out these values with unity, hard work, and faith.

Mrs. Sumagaysay delivered a warm message welcoming all students to Academic Year 2026–2027. She highlighted the true purpose of education, urging students to pursue academic excellence while upholding moral values and integrity.

Mrs. Sumagaysay also introduced the key administrative division heads, recognizing their expertise in campus management. Dr. Jalandoni introduced the four School Directors, who presented their respective faculty and staff. The segment concluded with the introduction of staff and workers acknowledging their valuable contributions to the daily operations of the campus.

For campus announcements, Dr. Jalandoni presented the schedule of university activities lined up for August. Ms. Aurine Joyce Pantalunan, Guidance Counselor, discussed student scholarships opportunities, sharing key details and updates regarding the Free Tertiary Higher Education scholarship program.

The ceremony concluded with closing remarks delivered by Sgt. Ma. Cristina Postrado, CSC Co-Adviser. She formally closed the program with warm words and final guidelines for the days ahead. Her encouraging message left students, faculty, and staff feeling connected and ready to face the exciting challenges of Academic Year 2026–2027 together.

Bringing the ceremony to a joyful close, the Hugpong Uyas Dance Ensemble delighted the crowd with a vibrant performance, followed by the community song that left everyone singing together with pride and excitement for the year ahead.
