A new academic year officially begins as St. Michael Academy of Pontevedra, Inc. warmly welcomed its students for the First Day of Opening Block of Academic Year 2026–2027.

The day was filled with excitement, meaningful interactions, and opportunities for students to reconnect with friends and meet new classmates. Under the guidance of their respective Class Advisers, students actively participated in psychosocial activities designed to foster a positive learning environment, strengthen relationships, and promote their overall well-being.

Homeroom orientation sessions were also conducted to familiarize students with school policies, expectations, classroom routines, and academic goals for the year ahead. Furthermore, each class successfully held the Election of Class Officers, empowering student leaders to take an active role in building a responsible, collaborative, and dynamic classroom community.

As we embark on this new journey of learning, growth, and excellence, may every St. Michaelian continue to embody the values of faith, discipline, and service.

🎒📚 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗟 | 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸, 𝗦𝘁. 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀! 💙💛

A new academic year officially began as St. Michael Academy of Pontevedra, Inc. warmly welcomed its students for the First Day of School filled with excitement, enthusiasm, and school spirit.

The day commenced with a meaningful Flag Ceremony sponsored by the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and the SMAPI Marching Band Corps. Their coordinated efforts set a patriotic and inspiring atmosphere as St. Michaelians gathered together to begin another year of learning and growth.

Following the ceremony, the school community was inspired by the welcoming remarks of Ms. Rhea S. Fortaliza, LPT, School Principal, who encouraged students to embrace new opportunities, challenges, and experiences that will help them become responsible and successful individuals.

Students were then introduced to the dedicated Faculty and Staff members of SMAPI, who will serve as their mentors and guides throughout the school year. This introduction strengthened the sense of community and partnership in achieving academic excellence.

A significant highlight of the program was the Induction of the newly elected Supreme Student Council Officers, led by SSC President Hans Jelu Sitchon. The induction symbolized their commitment to leadership, service, and representing the student body with integrity and dedication.

To add excitement to the celebration, students participated in fun-filled raffle draws and interactive games that brought smiles, laughter, and camaraderie among their fellow St. Michaelians.

The program concluded with an energetic Zumba Dance led by the Supreme Student Council, encouraging everyone to stay active while fostering unity and school spirit.

As we begin School Year 2026–2027, may every St. Michaelian continue to learn, lead, and live by the values of faith, excellence, and service.

📚✨ Three St. Michaelian Senior High School teachers proudly participated in the 2026 PEAC In-Service Training (INSET) for Senior High School Teachers held at Silliman University, Dumaguete City, from June 12–14, 2026.

Representing St. Michael’s Academy of Pontevedra, Inc. were John Paulo D. Palma, LPT, John Elinel R. Elijay, LPT, and Ronelo V. Echauz, who joined fellow educators from various schools across the Negros Island Region in a meaningful professional development experience focused on strengthening educational practices and curriculum implementation.

Centered on the theme, “Implementing the Strengthened Senior High School Curriculum,” the three-day training provided participants with valuable insights into the updated Senior High School curriculum, adaptive teaching strategies, curriculum planning, assessment practices, and learner-centered approaches designed to improve student outcomes and educational quality.

Through engaging discussions, collaborative workshops, and expert-led sessions, the participants gained new knowledge and practical strategies that will help them effectively deliver the strengthened curriculum in their respective classrooms. The training also served as an avenue for networking, sharing best practices, and fostering a deeper commitment to educational excellence.

The participation of our St. Michaelian educators reflects the school’s dedication to continuous professional growth, innovation in teaching, and the pursuit of quality Catholic education. As they return equipped with new learnings and fresh perspectives, they remain committed to nurturing competent, values-oriented, and future-ready learners.

📚✨ LEARNING, COLLABORATION, AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH! ✨📚

Nine dedicated St. Michaelian educators successfully participated in the 2nd and Final Day of the PEAC In-Service Training (INSET) for Junior High School Teachers held at Silliman University, Dumaguete City last June 9 and 10.

This meaningful training experience provided our teachers with valuable opportunities to deepen their knowledge, enhance their instructional practices, and learn innovative strategies that will further improve the quality of education delivered to our learners. Through engaging discussions, collaborative workshops, and insightful sessions led by education experts, our teachers gained fresh perspectives and strengthened their commitment to academic excellence.

The participation of our nine St. Michaelian teachers reflects the school’s unwavering dedication to continuous professional development and lifelong learning. By investing in the growth of our educators, we ensure that our students receive relevant, learner-centered, and quality instruction that prepares them for the challenges of the future.

As the training concludes, our teachers return inspired, empowered, and equipped with new ideas that will positively impact classroom teaching and learning. 📚✨ St. Michaelian Educators Embrace Continuous Learning at PEAC INSET JHS 2026 at Silliman University ✨📚

Nine dedicated St. Michaelian teachers proudly joined the 1st Day of the PEAC In-Service Training (INSET) for Junior High School Teachers held at Silliman University, Dumaguete City, demonstrating their commitment to professional growth and excellence in education.

Representing St. Michael Academy of Pontevedra, Inc. are Mr. John Paulo Palma, Mr. Rey Harvie M. Fillone, Mrs. Ella Vani Marie H. Benia, Ms. Rebealyn T. Epelipsia, Ms. Lady Ann C. Magbanua, Ms. Lorelyn P. Avanceña, Mrs. Lore Grace P. Estares-Palma, Ms. Gemarie Pelinggon, and Ms. Cynthia Marie Lemoncito.

The first day of training focused on meaningful and relevant topics aimed at strengthening teaching and learning processes, including:
✅ Prioritizing and Unpacking the Curriculum Unit Standards and Competencies
✅ Aligning Standards, Competencies, Activities, Resources, and Core Values
✅ Assessing and Tracking Learners’ Progress and Performance of Transfer in the Unit Performance Task through Scaffolding and Direct Instruction

Through this valuable learning experience, our educators continue to enhance their knowledge, skills, and instructional practices to better serve our learners and uphold the school’s mission of academic excellence and holistic formation.
