Saot Capiz Dancers of the Municipality of Pontevedra secured 1ST PLACE in the 6th edition of Saot Capiz: Capisnon Folk Dance Competition.

Held at the New Capiz Provincial Capitol Grounds, Pueblo de Panay, Roxas City, Capiz, the troupe delivered an outstanding performance of the Pasurong Surong Dance β€” a ceremonial dance practiced by farmers in Capiz during the early Spanish colonial period. Traditionally associated with the town of Panitan, the dance embodies the spirit of communal cooperation and is recognized for its rhythmic foot-stomping, hand-clapping, and spirited exchanges of cheers between performers and spectators.

This achievement highlights the Capsunians’ dedication, artistic excellence, and commitment to preserving and promoting their local cultural heritage.

The CAPSU Pontevedra Dance Troupe extends its congratulations to its members for bringing pride and honor to CAPSU Pontevedra and the municipality.
