Clean water access is more than a basic needโit is a shared responsibility in building healthier and more dignified learning spaces for every child.
In line with this advocacy, the Alumni Batch 1974 of Matina Central Elementary School donated a water facility aimed at improving pupilsโ access to safe water and supporting their daily hygiene needs.
The facility, which features a sink with multiple faucets, allows several learners to wash their hands at the same timeโencouraging proper sanitation practices and making clean water more readily available within the school.
The project highlights the importance of promoting hygiene, sanitation, and safe water in schools to help safeguard learnersโ health and support regular attendance. With this additional facility, the school continues to strengthen efforts toward a more child-friendly and health-conscious learning environment.
โThis meaningful contribution from our alumni shows their continued support for their alma mater. Through this water facility, we are not only addressing the immediate needs of our learners but also reinforcing the value of cleanliness and health as foundations of quality education,โJerry Ferraren, school principal, expressed during the turn over ceremony on March 12, 2026.
The project was largely supported by Ms. Melanie Delgra, a member of the batch now based in Canada, who funded a significant portion of the installation.
