Itโ€™s a great day for us Josenians!

Take good pride in our dear school because we are proudly hosting this annual EDDIS 2 Festival of Talents 2026. A combined number of schools attended this yearโ€™s competition, including our aspiring and dedicated participants in both the English Advocacy Pitch and Filipino Dokyukwento. Each student that is competing for this Festival of Talents is ready to give it their all for the glory of being humble victors. Best of luck to all of you!

The event is currently being facilitated by our own English department and club members along with their Filipino counterparts. We express great gratitude to all the schools, including ours, that are taking part in this event. All of their hard work and preparation are very much appreciated.

The English language has an ever-evolving set of words and phrases that never ceases to amaze different linguists. ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ It keeps growing in numbers, as it has for many years, just to keep up with the timely deposits of its speakers. ๐Ÿ†• Day by day new words are added with respect to recreation, professionalism, and the occasional banter. As of today, multiple terms describe multiple endeavors, which in turn gives pride and confidence.๐Ÿ“š

Letโ€™s recognize a new word added to the exclusive Oxford and Merriam-Webster Dictionaries: we have the word โ€œburrata.โ€ ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

variants or less commonly burrata cheese
plural burratas also burrata cheeses
: mozzarella formed into a ball-shaped casing that contains curds and cream

Burrata has its origins in the Apulia region of Italy. The dish was born out of a need to minimise food waste in the 1920s.

Perry plates a dollop of soft, delicately flavored burrata cheese and dusts it in black pepper. โ€” Brenna Houck

Since I first met โ€œburrataโ€ as the creamiest cheese in my love life, how often do you mention it on a daily basisโ€”and in what sentence can you include it without getting hungry? Share your funniest version below!

: noun [mass noun] a pleasant smell that frequently accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather: other than the petrichor emanating from the rapidly drying grass, there was not a trace of evidence that it had rained at all.

Two Australian scientists gave petrichor this name because when they steam-distilled rocks and soil, they discovered a golden yellow oil that was trapped in the rocks and responsible for the smell we associate with rain.

Now that the word โ€œpetrichorโ€ is increasingly used to describe the pleasant smell of the earth after it rains, how often do you mention it in everyday lifeโ€”and in what sentences would you apply it? Share your example below!

Itโ€™s a wrap, Josenians! ๐Ÿ

On this day, November 24th at 9:00 AM. We have successfully finished our English Month agenda with the 7th grade Spelling Bee as the last event. It was facilitated by our very own Maโ€™am Celina Melgar. The activity consisted of 11 paired participants who answered 15 questions that ranged from easy, medium, and difficult levels. ๐Ÿช„

Big credits to the lively grade 7 participants that showed their literary prowess with confidence and grace. May they continue to further develop their spelling skills as they journey through their high school lives. ๐Ÿ”ค

The event was closed at 10 AM and was filled with the warm embrace of camaraderie and friendly competition.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
