Last November 21, the English Department and English Club successfully hosted a English Quiz Bee in celebration of National Reading Month 2025 with the theme of “𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐨 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠.” 📚👩🏽‍🏫

Every word we say has power; it can inspire or silence, uplift or destroy, heal or harm. Our words influence the world around us in every discussion, post, classroom, and community. One word can give someone fearful courage or show someone who is lost in the dark the way. However, careless words can also break people's hearts and spirits.

Compassion is the choice to speak kindly. Speaking the truth is a sign of integrity. To speak carefully is to create harmony. Talk to empower, not to denigrate. Don't speak to destroy; speak to create.
