In a profound effort to create a safe and inclusive environment within the Amando A. Fabio Memorial National High School campus, with the help of Gender and Development conducted a seminar on the Safe Spaces Act, also known as the Anti-Bastos Law, Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (DO No. 31, s. 2018), and DepEd Child Protection Policy which aimed to educate and create a safe environment for everyone, by penalizing gender-based sexual harassment and that the law defines and prohibits catcalling, wolf-whistling, unwanted sexual comments, and any form of gender-based harassment that causes public humiliation, was held at the TVL Building, AAFMNHS on March 15, 2024.

The centerpiece of the seminar was the comprehensive discussion of the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313) by Atty. Queen Ann M. Navallo, PhD, JD, Secondary School Principal II, she provided a thorough understanding of the act, commonly referred to as the “Bawal Bastos Law.” She highlighted the scope of the law, which defines gender-based sexual harassment in streets and public spaces. Atty. Navallo elaborated on the different areas within the campus where such harassment can occur, stressing the importance of awareness and prevention.

Teaching and non-teaching personnel from AAFMNHS, as well as the SGC, SPTA, SSLG, GAD Officers, and selected classroom officers, attended the seminar.
