Binansagan Elementary School successfully conducted a General PTA Meeting and Parents’ Orientation attended by parents, guardians, teachers, school personnel, and learner leaders from the Supreme Elementary Learner Government (SELG). The activity aimed to strengthen the partnership between the school and the community while providing important updates on educational programs and policies that directly affect learners.
One of the major topics discussed was the implementation of the Three-Term School Calendar based on the latest guidelines of the Department of Education (DepEd). Parents and participants were oriented on the structure of the three-term system, including the Opening Block, where foundational learning competencies are introduced; the Instructional Block, where regular teaching and learning activities are conducted; and the End-of-Term Block, which focuses on assessment, evaluation, and other culminating activities. The assessment and grading system was also explained to help parents better understand how learners’ performance and progress will be monitored and evaluated throughout the school year.
The meeting also highlighted the Kaagapay Program, emphasizing its objectives and the important role of parents, teachers, and the community in supporting learners’ academic success and personal growth. Participants were encouraged to actively cooperate with the school in implementing programs that promote learners’ welfare and development.
Furthermore, an orientation on bullying prevention was conducted to raise awareness of the different forms of bullying and their effects on learners. Parents and learner leaders were reminded of their shared responsibility in fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. The active participation of the SELG officers reinforced the importance of student leadership in promoting positive behavior and peer support within the school.
The discussion also included good parenting practices, highlighting the significant role of parents in shaping their children's character, values, and academic performance. Parents were encouraged to maintain open communication with their children, provide guidance, and actively participate in school activities.
The activity concluded with an open forum where parents, learner leaders, and other stakeholders were given the opportunity to ask questions, clarify concerns, and share suggestions. Overall, the orientation served as a valuable platform for collaboration, strengthening the partnership among the school, parents, and learner leaders in ensuring quality education and the holistic development of every learner.
