Students often find themselves juggling homework, projects, and extracurricular activities throughout the week. But is this hectic schedule taking a toll on students' well-being? Yes, it is, and hereโs a take on why it might be a good idea to give students a break from homework and extracurricular activities during weekends.
Everyone needs rest and relaxation, especially students. The school week can be really exhausting, with long hours of classes. Having a homework-free weekend means we get more time to relax and recharge for the next week.
Besides, we need not make light of family time, which we all should enjoy. Weekends should be an opportunity to spend quality moments with your family. If extracurricular activities pile up during our weekends, how are we supposed to strengthen our bonds with those we cherish the most?
Weekends are also a time to explore our hobbies. Rest doesn't always mean sleeping; it can also mean doing something relaxing and soothing. We can pursue the arts, sports, music, or other activities weโre passionate about without academic responsibility.
The majority of students want to excel in their classes, often overworking and burning themselves out. Many students cope with extreme stress and anxiety. As a student who, like most, wants a promising future, I, too, tend to overwork and exhaust myself to achieve my goals. Canceling weekend extracurricular activities and homework feels like a breath of fresh air, giving us the chance to recharge. Sometimes, a little pause can lead to a large leap in our well-being and productivity. Simply not giving homework and activities during the weekend can reduce stress and enhance our mental health.
The main idea here isn't to slack off or avoid learning. It's about finding the equilibrium between work and rest. The title says it all: "Balanced weekends, happy students." Happy students tend to perform better academically and live healthier lives overall. Hence, it's more logical to let the students rest on weekends so that they can be more active during classes.
