PNHS SHS Outwits 21 Rivals in Henyo Piliño

PILI, Camarines Sur— The Senior High School team of Pili National High School (PNHS) clinched the championship title in the Henyo Piliño School Edition held today, June 15, besting 21 other schools from the junior high school, senior high school, and college levels.

The competition was held as part of the Back-to-School Program and the 71st Foundation Anniversary Weeklong Celebration of the Municipality of Pili.

The winning team was composed of Aliyah Izzy Marmol, John Philip Seratorre, Carl Diana, and Reign Ashley Celetaria under the guidance of coach Ivy Jasmin Torres-Cristo.

The contestants demonstrated excellence in various fields, including current events, history, science, mathematics, language, arts and culture, sports, and general information, earning the championship title and the top prize of ₱8,000.

Malaya nga ba ang Pilipinas o pinalitan lamang natin ang mga tanikala?

Ngayong Araw ng Kalayaan, muling ginugunita ng sambayanang Pilipino ang araw na ipinaglaban at ipinagwagi ng ating mga ninuno ang ating kasarinlan. Isang araw ng pag-alala sa kanilang katapangan, sakripisyo, at pagmamahal sa bayan.

Ngunit habang ipinagdiriwang natin ang kalayaang ipinamana sa atin ng kasaysayan, isang tanong ang patuloy na bumabagabag: tunay nga ba nating nakamit ang kalayaan?

Mahigit isang siglo matapos iwagayway ang watawat ng kasarinlan, tila nakagapos pa rin ang bansa sa mga tanikalang pumipigil sa pag-unlad nito. Nariyan ang tanikala ng korapsyon na patuloy na sumisira sa tiwala ng mamamayan sa pamahalaan. Nariyan ang tanikala ng kahirapan na nagkakait sa milyon-milyong Pilipino ng pagkakataong mamuhay nang may dignidad. At higit sa lahat, nariyan ang mga banta sa ating soberanya tulad ng alitan sa West Philippine Sea na patuloy na sumusubok sa ating kakayahang ipagtanggol ang teritoryo at karapatan bilang isang malayang bansa.

Hindi tunay na maipagdiriwang ang kalayaan kung ang mamamayan ay nananatiling bihag ng gutom, kawalan ng oportunidad, at katiwalian. Hindi sapat ang paggunita sa nakaraan kung mananatili tayong bulag sa mga hamong kinahaharap ng kasalukuyan.

Ang Araw ng Kalayaan ay hindi lamang pagdiriwang ng tagumpay ng nakaraan. Ito rin ay paalala na ang kalayaan ay isang tungkuling dapat pangalagaan, ipagtanggol, at patuloy na isabuhay. Sapagkat ang tunay na kalayaan ay hindi lamang nasusukat sa kawalan ng mananakop, kundi sa pagkakaroon ng isang bansang makatarungan, maunlad, at may dignidad para sa lahat.

Sa paggunita natin ngayong araw, dapat ay hindi lamang natin itanong kung kailan natin nakamit ang kalayaan, kundi kung tunay nga ba natin itong tinatamasa.

Malaya na nga ba ang Pilipinas, o pinalitan lamang natin ang mga tanikala? Ang sagot ay nasa mga pasyang ating ginagawa ngayon, sapagkat habang sinusulat natin ang susunod na kabanata ng ating bansa, 𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙖'𝙩𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙠𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙮𝙨𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙣.

Classes officially begin on June 8, 2026 (Monday). Please take note of the following important reminders:

👔 School Uniform
All students are encouraged to wear their complete school uniform.

For Grade 11 students who don’t have yet their uniforms, you may temporarily wear a plain white shirt and black pants.
