☘️AGRI CHIKA✨

The continuous increase in gasoline prices affects all types of vehicles, from motorcycles and private cars to public utility vehicles, trucks, and agricultural machinery. As fuel becomes more expensive, vehicle owners and drivers face higher daily expenses, while transportation and delivery costs may also increase. This situation can affect commuters, businesses, farmers, and ordinary families because higher fuel costs can contribute to higher prices for goods and services.

𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪?

The first Agricultural Extension in the Philippines had its origins in the "Granjas Modelos" established in 1565!🇪🇸🌾

During the Spanish colonization period, these 'Model Farms' served as early Spanish Colonial agricultural demonstration sites created to introduce new crops and farming techniques to the local population.

Long before modern training centers and field schools, these pioneering sites laid the groundwork for sharing knowledge and improving agricultural practices right where farmers are. 👩‍🌾👨‍🌾

Kwentong Matagumpay na Magsasaka ng Brgy. Pandanan 🌾

Isang taong hindi sumuko sa anumang hamon ng buhay. Nagsumikap at nagpatuloy siya para sa magandang kinabukasan ng kanyang pamilya, at ngayon ay may napagtapos na siya — Nursing, Midwifery, at BEEd, Magna Cum Laude pa mula sa MSU-IIT! Tunay na inspirasyon — patunay na sa sipag at tiyaga, may nilaga! 👨‍🌾🎓

Interview done! ✅ Key takeaway from our Pandanan farmer: “Kung may tiyaga, may aanihin.” Hindi lang sa pagsasaka, kundi pati sa buhay.

From this scope, Extension serves as a wide-ranging approach to uplifting farming communities and building sustainable livelihoods beyond just cultivating crops.

Today, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Agricultural Extension carries this vision into the field—connecting science, innovation, technology, and practical knowledge directly with farmers and rural communities.🌾

It reminds us that agricultural growth reaches every corner of the sector—supporting livestock, protecting natural resources, boosting agribusiness, and fostering thriving rural communities.🌱

The BSA Agricultural Extension third year students engaged in an outdoor classroom activity on Needs Assessment Methods, allowing them to apply concepts through observation, interaction, and practical exercises. The activity provided an opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world situations and strengthen their understanding of the needs assessment process.

💡 𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪?

The first practical initiative in university extension was undertaken in 1867 by James Stuart, a fellow at Trinity College, Cambridge, who is regarded as the "Father of University Extension!🎓

Long before formal extension systems took root worldwide, Stuart pioneered the initiative to bring higher education lectures and practical learning beyond traditional campus boundaries to people who otherwise couldn't access them.
That visionary spark laid the groundwork for how we share knowledge today. In Agricultural Extension, this legacy lives on as we bridge the gap between academic research and the hands-on realities of farmers in the field. 🌾👩‍🌾👨‍🌾

It shows us that true learning thrives when it leaves the four walls of a lecture hall and steps directly into the soil, the community, and the heart of agriculture. 🌱

💡 𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪?

The term “𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡” was first used by the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 in 𝟭𝟴𝟳𝟯 to describe bringing educational lectures to people living outside the university campus.

From this early concept, 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 grew as a way of bringing knowledge beyond the walls of academic institutions and closer to the communities who need it.

Today, 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 carries this vision into the field—connecting research, innovation, technology, and practical knowledge directly with farmers and rural communities. 🌾👩‍🌾👨‍🌾

It reminds us that 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺—it can reach the farm, the community, and the people who make agriculture possible. 🌱

✨ Extension means taking knowledge beyond the campus and bringing it where it can create meaningful change.
