The School-Based Training Workshop on Campus Journalism was successfully conducted on August 29, 2026, as part of the school’s continuing efforts to strengthen the journalism skills and talents of its learners. The activity provided a meaningful avenue for aspiring campus journalists to enhance their knowledge, creativity, and confidence in communicating stories and ideas.

The activity opened with a prayer led by Ms. Mylene B. Bersamira, followed by the opening remarks and rationale delivered by Dr. Maria Lorena Bisares – P1. The resource speakers were also introduced by Mylenne B. Batawang and Rodolfo Q. Briones, with Rodolfo Q. Briones serving as the emcee.

The participants engaged in sessions on Feature Writing, Column Writing,Editorial Writing , and Science and Technology Writing which were facilitated by Ms. Mylene Turdil. Through the discussions and workshops, they explored different writing techniques, developed their ideas, and practiced crafting articles that were informative, relevant, and engaging.

The workshop also covered Headline Writing, Editorial Cartooning, and Photojournalism. Mr. Exudor Rosales guided the participants as they strengthened their skills in creating compelling headlines, expressing ideas through editorial cartoons, and capturing meaningful moments through photographs. Hands-on workshop activities allowed them to apply the concepts and techniques they had learned.

As a highlight of the workshop, students who produced the best outputs were recognized for their outstanding work and received prizes.
The recognition celebrated their creativity, dedication, and mastery of the journalistic skills they had developed throughout the training, while also inspiring their fellow participants to continue honing their talents.

The School-Based Training Workshop strengthened the school’s commitment to nurturing responsible, creative, and skilled campus journalists. More than developing journalistic abilities, the activity empowered the learners to become effective storytellers who could inform, inspire, and amplify the voices of the school community. πŸ“πŸ“ΈπŸ“°

PeΓ±arrubia Integrated School (P*S) in Abra now offers weaving as a subject for its senior high school (SHS) students. The town is known for its Tingguian weaving tradition, and adding this to the SHS curriculum passes the torch down to the youth, banking on them to keep the tradition alive for generations to come.

The subject will include lessons on natural dyeing, weaving, and embroidery that will feature designs showcasing the Tingguian (Itneg) people’s culture.

The municipal government has already allocated funds for tillar, a weaving equipment, as well as threads and other materials the students will need to learn the craft.

PeΓ±arrubia Integrated School (P*S) warmly welcomes 15 practice teachers from the University of Abra – Bangued Campus, who are beginning an exciting and meaningful chapter in their journey toward becoming professional educators. The group is composed of future teachers from BSEd English, Mathematics, Science, and Filipino; BTLEd; BTVTEd; BEEd–General Education; and BECEd, bringing with them diverse fields of specialization, fresh perspectives, and a shared passion for teaching and learning.

The practice teachers were accompanied and assisted by their respective program headsβ€”Dr. Ramir Banez, Dr. Dexter Ulidan, Ms. Ann Creia Pasos, and Mr. Charlie Vitalisβ€”whose guidance and support are instrumental in preparing these future educators for their field experience. Their presence reflects the strong partnership between the university and P*S in providing meaningful opportunities for pre-service teachers to gain authentic classroom experience, develop their professional skills, and learn from actual school settings.

Under the leadership of our School Head, Dr. Maria Lorena B. Bisares, P*S looks forward to welcoming, guiding, and supporting these 15 future educators throughout their practice teaching journey. May your stay at P*S be filled with valuable experiences, inspiring mentors, meaningful connections, and lessons that will help shape you into competent, compassionate, and committed teachers of the future.
