On this day, we commemorate National Flag Day, a celebration that honors the pride, freedom, and identity of the Filipino people. Observed every May 28, this day marks the historic first unfurling of the Philippine flag. As we raise our colors high, may we remember the courage and sacrifices of our heroes who fought for the nationโs independence and continue to inspire patriotism among every Filipino.
๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ๐๐ก ๐๐ก๐๐ ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ is celebrated every ๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ด in the Philippines and observed from this day until June 12, which ends on Philippine Independence Day. It honors the first time the Philippine flag was spread in victory after the Battle of Alapan in Imus, Cavite on May 28, 1898. During this battle, Filipino revolutionary forces, led by Emilio Aguinaldo, defeated Spanish troops.
The very first flag of the Philippines was sewn in Hong Kong in 1898 by Marcela Agoncillo who earned the title of "Mother of the Philippine Flag." She was assisted by her daughter, Lorenza Agoncillo, and Delfina Herbosa de Natividad, a niece of Dr. Jose Rizal before being brought back to the Philippines by Emilio Aguinaldo. The flag was first displayed publicly after the Battle of Alapan in 1898 and was later formally unfurled during the declaration of Philippine independence on June 12, 1898, in Kawit, Cavite.
This day is celebrated to remind Filipinos of the nationโs history, freedom, and identity. The Philippine flag is also a reminder of the sacrifices made by heroes who fought for the independence of our country. This celebration encourages Filipinos to show patriotism and national pride. To honor the bravery of Filipino revolutionaries, to respect the Philippine flag and the national symbols, and for us to remember the countryโs struggle for the freedom we have today.
This celebration is more than just a yearly national celebration, it is a tribute to the courage, unity, and patriotism of the Filipino people. As the Philippine flag waves proudly across the nation, it reminds every Filipino of the sacrifices of the past and the responsibility to protect the countryโs freedom, dignity, and sovereignty for future generations.

Pentecost Sunday: Celebration of Faith and Worship
Every year, Catholics celebrate Pentecost Sunday with prayer and thanksgiving. This special occasion happens fifty days after Easter Sunday, being known as the day when the Holy Spirit came down upon the apostles. Because of this event, Pentecost is often called the โBirthday of the Church.โ In the Philippines, many people attend Mass and celebrate this important day with their families.
On Pentecost Sunday, churches are filled with people wearing red clothes, which symbolize the fire of the Holy Spirit. During the Mass, priests remind everyone about the importance of faith, kindness, and courage.
Aside from attending Mass, some communities also hold simple gatherings after the celebration. Families share meals, neighbors spend time together, and parish groups organize activities for the youth. These small celebrations show the strong faith and unity of Filipinos. Pentecost Sunday becomes a time for people to strengthen not only their relationship with God but also their relationship with others.
Pentecost Sunday also teaches an important lesson to the youth. The coming of the Holy Spirit reminds people to help each other whenever possible. Students are encouraged to become responsible, respectful, and faithful in their daily lives. Through this celebration, many are inspired to spread goodness and hope to those around them.
Pentecost Sunday remains an important celebration for many Catholics. It reminds people that faith can give strength and guidance during difficult times. As families gather in churches and communities celebrate together, Pentecost continues to bring hope, unity, and inspiration to Christians every year.

Every May 13, the Catholic Church celebrates the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, commemorating the Marian apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to three young shepherd childrenโLรบcia dos Santos, Francisco, and Jacinta Marto, in Fรกtima, Portugal, in 1917. During a time of war and uncertainty, Mary appeared to deliver a message that still echoes in our world today: pray the Holy Rosary, turn away from sin, and trust in Godโs mercy.
Through her apparitions, Our Lady emphasized the power of prayerโespecially the Rosaryโas a weapon for peace and conversion. She invited all people, young and old, to offer sacrifices, seek forgiveness, and deepen their relationship with God. Her message was not only meant for the children of Fรกtima, but for all humanity, reminding us that even small acts of faith can bring great change.
As we celebrate this special feast, may we reflect on Our Ladyโs message and live it out in our daily lives. In a world often filled with noise and distractions, she calls us back to simplicityโprayer, sacrifice, and love. Like the three children, may we respond with courage and faith, trusting that Godโs plan is always greater than our fears.
โPray the Rosary every day to obtain peace for the world.โ โ Our Lady of Fatima
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us. ๐
