Today’s lesson introduction:
🀄 Hànzì (汉字) – Chinese characters. These are the real written symbols used in Mandarin. Every word has its own character!
🔤 Pīnyīn (拼音) – The spelling system that shows how to read a character using the alphabet. This helps beginners pronounce words correctly before mastering characters.
🅰️ Shēngmǔ (声母) – Initial sounds. These are the starting consonant sounds in a syllable.
🅾️ Yùnmǔ (韵母) – Final sounds. These come after the initials and complete the syllable.
🎵 Shēngdiào (声调) – Tones. Mandarin has 4 main tones — and tones change the meaning of a word! (Mā, Má, Mǎ, Mà 👀)

Because Mandarin is NOT like English! If you don’t learn pinyin, initials, finals, and tones properly from the start, pronunciation becomes confusing later.
