One of the greatest affirmations for us is when families choose to stay. đź’š

Their daughter just finished the school year this May, and before August even begins, they already reserved her slot again. Despite the big changes we’ll be implementing this year at Bahay Ugnayan, they still chose to continue the journey with us.

From Color Chaos to Calm Circles: A Journey of Growth

When we first met this student, he loved painting—but he would often mix all the colors together until they turned into one brownish-gray shade. Because of this, the beauty and details of his work were hard to see.

Today, he recreated Squares with Concentric Circles with so much patience and intention. Instead of mixing all the paints together, he carefully worked on each circle one by one, paying attention to the colors and giving each space its own place.

This activity took him almost an hour to finish, and throughout the whole process, he stayed focused and determined. Every circle shows not only creativity, but also growth in patience, self-control, attention, and purposeful work.

More than a painting, this is evidence of development. 🤍

We’d like to inform our Living Learning Homeschool families that we will be starting our classes earlier than the official calendar—June 15 💛

This adjustment allows us to better serve you this school year. With the growing number of students, our teachers will have enough time to carefully prepare each student’s portfolio and encode grades—so no one has to rush during submission season.

Since we meet 4x a week (instead of 5), starting earlier also gives us the margin to pace lessons well and keep a steady, manageable flow throughout the year.

We’ve also noticed that many of our homeschool families take longer vacations during the school year. By beginning earlier, you’ll have more freedom to enjoy these breaks without feeling behind—maximizing one of the best benefits of homeschooling: flexibility.

As always, this change is made with your family in mind—to provide a more thoughtful, well-paced, and stress-free learning experience. Thank you for your continued trust in us ✨

Learning to read time isn’t rushed—it’s built, step by step.

For this child, we began with telling time by the hour, then by the half hour. When we saw that connecting the clock to skip counting by 5s was still a challenge, we paused. Instead of pushing through, we strengthened the foundation.

We worked on multiplication through skip counting—by 2s, then 10s, and eventually 5s. And when he was ready, we returned to telling time. This time, everything made sense. He was able to do it on his own—with confidence.

Disclaimer: The worksheet is still focused on telling time by the half hour, but now he understands why we read 6 as 30 when the long hand points to 6. Listen to how he skip counts!

From a simple object lesson in nature study using a pomegranate seed, the children’s curiosity gently unfolded into science, geography, botany, and map work—wondering where it grows, asking if it can thrive in the Philippines, and discovering together its origins in Iran.

It was also our first time to see and taste a pomegranate—the children said it tastes like apple and delighted in discovering that the seeds can be eaten whole. 🌿✨
